"The summer sun is fading as the year grows old and darker days are drawing near.
The winter winds will be much colder..now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky and one by one they disappear.
I wish I was flying with them...now you're not here.
Like the sun through the trees you came to love me, like a leaf on a breeze you blew away.
Through Autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way, you always loved this time of year.
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now...because you're not here.....because you're not here..."

This is great Dan. Your ability to see color, nuances of color, hue, intensity, light and shading, has always amazed me. Wish I had half your talant. Congratulations on another fantastic job. Like DBA says, the animation was like watching a tutorial.
davincipoppalag (May 17, 2004)
That animation was fun to watch. I tried that applet and for me it's just too much to try to remember where everything is all the time..I need all the tools in front of me, and I still forget . You could probably draw a great picture using nothing but a twig and some mud. This is great
Knockoff (May 18, 2004)

"Breakers crash at my feet, I count them like lambs in my sleep. They come at me steady, they know I'm not ready. They pound on my mattress door. Have they got a big one in store. Losing you, I heard I was losing you, that's not the only thing that I've got to lose...I've got to lose the deep sea blues, look at these blues, deep sea blues...."

Hey I know! Let's have a new thing where everybody's name is "Slappy Hobo". Or we could have some other kind of new thing.

Hah, that's cool. I'm going to critique this as someone who doesn't know what caricatures are "hmmm, his head seems a little big, his nose too...I would work on the anatomy..this is strange looking, see I know what I'm talking about because I draw nothing but anime all day" Slappy Hobo...he's my best friend.
marcello (May 4, 2004)
for some reason this makes me think of a mushroom. with eyes and stuff.
Xodiak (May 4, 2004)
No, his head is perfectly realistic, Cloxboy. This condition is called, "craniosynostosis" >;)
Hehe, he looks very great Axil62. >:D

This was not so much about getting it "correct" as it was about just trying to convey a feeling, a memory of summers past, an innocence. The colors seemed brighter then and the sun was warm and comfortable, not hot and beating. There were still mysteries to investigate and legends still not proven false. My bike was shiny and new, I was fast as the wind on that thing, there was happiness and hope. Details weren't the point and if someone told me something was impossible, I doubted it.

I got pissed off here a while back, acted like a two year old, threw a fit and blacked em out. No I don't show anything anywhere, I mostly end up just giving it away. I've sold a few but I have no dicipline so I hardly ever paint for real anymore. But I'm going to soon, it's comming, the urge is growing, just not quite yet.
dixielandcutie (Apr 14, 2004)
i think this is my favorite of all yours...you are really an amazing artist
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 14, 2004)
pssst... Pandora... alot of them were totally great on the second to last view, you can click on that and still see them. Some of my favorites here are in his gallery and I still go there and look at them like that. :)

fleeting_memory (Mar 24, 2004)
This is very nice as usual and I agree with davinci-he looks like he's in a lit doorway
DinoFlorist (Aug 26, 2004)
I am going to guess that this picture is inspired by Jimi Hendrix's song. Knowing that makes the picture say more to me. It's like literature; people can analyze all day long and come up with new meanings. It doesn't mean any of them were the artists' intention, but to me, that song and this picture go together to make a whole mood. In fact I played the song while I looked at this, and I see the ambiant wind in this picture.

Yes, it's crying "Mary."
shell (Mar 1, 2011)
this would've looked even better in Oekaki I reckon
