This makes me sad for some reason why...maybe it's the colors.
But this is really good. I can't draw a sunset to save my life. >_<
Anyways, Happy New Years to you too.
Rosemary (Dec 31, 2005)

First I was just planning on a figure study but it morphed into this. :D I'm very pleased with the way it turned out though I wish I could have spent more time on it if my hand hadn't begun to scream at me. *rubs it* Any way this is a pic for my friend Adele. She's been feeling down lately so I'm trying to cheer her up.

That water is too neat, everything is.
Geist (Feb 19, 2005)
This is hot. I like it alot. The water look lovely!
Cordelia_Pink (Feb 19, 2005)
EverDream, you should do more pictures with shirtless guys bathing in the sun. That would be even more fun. *displays a stupid grin* (I really just said that...?) And btw, this is pretty good coming from only your imagination. I mean, I can picture people in my head but I can't exactly be accurate with body structures, faces and all that. lol (Guys with really long hair look pretty darn good, if I say so myself lol)

These are all gone around my house. Ours were the orange color anyway. I almost deleted this in verson 2, but I took a break, came back and it wasn't as bad as I thought...so I finished it. From a photo.

I have to agree with emmamommalaq -- it's the dew drops which really bring the whole piece together for me. :) Beautiful work! Am I right in remembering that this kind of lily is known as a "Stargazer Lily"? I know that I used to see something by that name in the bulb catalogues among the red&yellow flowers that I love so very much, and it seems so apt that someone with your username might be attracted to them, too. :)
thug (Dec 15, 2004)
Wow, this one hits you in the face. Very pretty and 3 dimensional. Good thing I'm not allergic to pollen.

Thanks to alwaysLearning and thug. It's kind of neat looking on the 2draw homepage and seeing one of my older pictures have new comments : ] Thanks you very much for the comments! :]

I'm with you on that comment. Every artist has nice surprizes in their portfolio. I missed this one some how when you posted it and alwayslearning found it and brought it to my attention.

I have to concur, this needs more shading; the colours you've used are so very pale that I could barely even tell that there was anything in the image, other than the two brows, at first. I like your choice of perspective, and I look forward to seeing where you go with this piece, from here.

I'm returning after an extended absence myself, and ironically enough, I've started out with something similar, with similar problems. But if my piece is too pale (which I firmly believe it is), this one is practically invisible. One easy way to change that might be to change the background colour, so that your pale choice of skin tone is against a dark/black background.

One other C&C -- the proportions of the face are good, from what I can see of it, but the shading on the nose makes it look just a little askew, based on a line from the tip of the chin to half-way between the brows. You may want to remember that the straight line of shadow (down the shadow side of the nose) is broken at the end by a small curve, where the tip of the nose flares out.

Good luck with this! :)

Xodiak (Dec 18, 2004)
Miss Natalie, I like your attempt at a realistic face. If you find a clear, large photograph with nice lighting and contrast, you can draw a realistic drawing easier. A good guide is to study which places are darker and which are lighter. Keep drawing, I like your artwork! >:D

Tell me which is worse, individual style without talent or talent without individual style?

sincity (Dec 6, 2004)
You know what, you do what you love and like, not what other people consider right, I think this a well done piece. If it is not an original drawing, that is fine, you changed it enough I'm sure to make it yours and to convey the message and feeling you wanted to send. We tend to beat ourselves up too much, trying to make others happy, and that is not the way to make yourself unique.
bumpinthenight (Dec 7, 2004)
no need to worry kejoco... you have both individual style and a hella lot of talent :P dang.... Where can I buy some talent XD I have the wierd, crap style down pat ^_^;; TT_TT

Oh, btw, this was graywolf's picture and she was using a mouse so she doesn't like it.

Thank you Ari :).

Yea. I agree with every one that posted on this. You bob1ggity is wasting your time. If you think your wasting your time then dont comment. *cough* This is cool. I like the line-blur idea.
alwaysLearning (Nov 27, 2004)
This caught my eye from Ari's Gallery, and I have to say, graywolf, you created a nice effect by blurring the lines like that. I really like the results -- and I consider them very inspirational, in terms of giving me ideas about how to use the tool to better effect.

The water looks so clear and purdy and the leaf is a good symbol of solitude :) Very nice.

I like the concept here; this reminds me of a cross-stitch pattern, with its simple blocks of colour. If I were to make a recommendation on how to improve it, though, I'd say to try accenting the veins more, with shadows and highlights. The composition reminds me of a bookmark. :)
davincipoppalag (Nov 27, 2004)
Hey..welcome back AL! LTNS I agree with her Sherry. This is a good series, but there needs to be some more details like the fine veins and some shadows. The colors are well done.
dugout (Nov 28, 2004)
Thanks for the suggestions.Actually,I did begin with a cross-stitch pattern, but altered the next three to
avoid too much repetition.I'll work harder on the details.

This is how my niece went. The practise shot went through the bedroom wall and just missed my nephew. Dark topic, but I'm glad you addressed it. I do wish the figure didn't have that "devil-may-care" smile, though.
