Whenever I try to use Oekaki Shi Painter for my Anime Art, it always turns out horribly wrong, while everyone elses looks amazing. Something seems to go wrong when I use it, can someone please teach me?

Contest Week 22: Man vs Machine! Your goal this week is to illustrate the topic/theme "man versus machine". This is a collaboration contest. You must collaborate with one or more people in this contest. We're expecting you to get creative and make the theme your own. You've got man, you've got machine and they're against each other somehow, let your imagination go wild. Since this is a collaboration contest, Zack and I will collaborate on judging as well. Please may I draw dog? If not, please may I draw the caretaker? This is looking great so far! :D I've redone mine, Balto style, half wolf half dog. His name IS Balto, and the little girls name is Kyai.
Name: Balto Age: 2 Gender: Male Treated in Doggie Day Care: Badly, they are afraid. Description: He was found as a Husky on the streets with no collar, but as he grew up, they realised that he was part wolf. This new Wolfdog was treated poorly because they were too afraid to feed him, and just wanted him to die. They left him to be sold and did everything they could to sell him. One day, Balto became greatly ill, and was close to his death, until they brought in a new female dog. She was also part wolf and was snow white. They threw her into his cage, and while Balto was asleep, nearly dead, she turned into a human with a granted power, and escaped the cage. No quicker had she left, she had decided to adopt Balto, and look after him. They gladly accepted, and only herself and Balto knew what had happened to the snow white wolf... There you go, I feel like posting some more things about him on the beginners board.. see you there!

This was drawn looking at the original image located http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/2212/3c6c44218bm.jpg - here, which was obviously not taken by me, but I don't really know who took it. It is a lame little rendition of the image and it took far too long (though I went for dinner in between, lol) I hope it doesn't offend anyone, lol, though I'm prolly a little offended by it myself. cheers, maria x

The only critique I have: Try to keep the coloring a little more in the lines, and fix the shading on the nose. It would be on the other side of the nose according to the light source.
