This is a strange study of me hooked up to my power chair(my feet are cripplied, due to age)and to Dragon typing program(arthritus)and to my computer(which is also me,inside.)I was doing a study for a picture of me,as a robot, cause I get hooked up to all this electronic stuff, like a robot.I've only been in a power chair for a couple years, due to very bad feet, although my legs, feet, ect.,all work,my feet got very bad, with age,& wear. So,I cannot walk on them(much.)And forget good medical treatments for feet, they do not do that on Medicare.Plus,I've got very bad fibromyalgia,in my arms, shoulders, ect. It's hard to see myself as a robot or android.

completely changed picture, uswing the mosaic tool thank you, lynn and charlie, here's a painting I just did, describing legs and feet going tyhru rehab, physical therapy;the motion is supposed to express the uneven painrful process(i should go back to cartoons, i'm depressing myself!)http://www.rydia.net/oekaki/picture.cgi?board=default
but i never thought expressing motion would be so wierd.

while I could still work I supervised nurses who took care of patients in their homes and some of them were totally paralyzed and were on a ventilator but they were still active, 3 going to school at a major university, another one was still active with his music and even though he can not talk he still composes and recently put out another cd and another one went ahead and had a baby and with help is doing a great job raising him. so I must stop feeling sorry for myself and must kick myself in the behind and must try to do as much as I can. as dbeyes has made adjusrments and is keeping as active as she can. It is great that she can express her feelings with her art and can share what she is going through

Purplemartin (Feb 10, 2010)
Good cartoon!
I saw this very concering political commercial, they said they are trying to vote in another bail-out this time for 4 billion dollars I hope they are wrong! At least Roosevelt helped the average guy via job programs and infrastructure building. What have any of us seen via these bail-outs, NOTHING! Anyhow thanks for the great cartoon.

I overdid this, and was too hard on it; perfectionist, for such a lighthearted cartoon;as you can see,I'm getting so into it,again,I'm seriously, going,at some stage,to think about trying to be "professional"again, somehow.why not try?all I can lose,is to fail, big deal.find out how,to go to big cartoon syndicates, cause I see such BAD CARTOONS,professionally, worse than mine.get egotistical again?it's not that,I just like to do it.But the logic sttucture of this fridge gave me lots of trouble, should have gotten a fridge ad,and copied that, rather than looking at my own, bad, used old hulk, and not geting the angle I wanted.Yon other artist got his perfect.(I once had a job doing furniture in ads.)Yeah,if "prickley city"can get syndicated, and it stinks badly, why not me,stinking badly?not saying I'll ever make money, just why not get pushy again, pretend I;'m a man,so I "fit into the group", be as outrageous as I like?(I mention, bending my gender identity, cause there is a real, stark discrimination against female cartoonists;I don;t want to do "family circle",ugh.Gad,can you see me doing a "family strip"?ha ha.Only a family of burlesque strippers!Sorry for writing so much,I really liked the idea of animals having their own refrigeration, for an elk or two.I mean, gazelle.(You real animals lovers will also tell me,it's the female lion who does the hunting, not the male, true.)Maybe he only goes out for a quart of milk.
Purplemartin (Jan 29, 2010)
LOLOL funny cartoon.
I would pretend to be a man to get cartoons published, there is major discrimination against female cartoonists, I would pick a male pseudonymn. Many political artists have fake names too.

You re invited to steal this picture, copy it,and put it up wherever you like.Pass it on.Sorry the art and caligraphy is so bad.The message is the medium,in this case.I was just discussing on businessweek, and the professor was so puzzled, why American culture is so lousy, deteriorated, and now art, music, education is now kaput in the culture, and in school systems..Big mystery.Answer is:It was sold out.Investigate the Ancient Roman empire, they did exactly the same thing.Materialism, and power, money, stuff, was more greatly prized than anything else.It always eliminates any other values. So,"Girls Gone Wild,"cause it made the company-inventor very rich,is seen as "pillar of the business community,"instead of a lousy pornographer. NOW,if he had done the same thing, and not made any money off it,or been very small time,THEN he would have been called scum. Howev er,since "Girls Gone Wild" make him a zillionaire, the Stock Market salutes him as a successful entrepeneur. WE women,on the other hand, know he is yer basic pimp.Just a very successful one.

The stigma of being poor in America is worse then the actual going without. I get it!
Bubblicious (Jan 20, 2010)
I wonder what happens when you have morals and you are poor... Hmm....
dorothyblueeyes (Jan 21, 2010)
Good question,Bubbilicious;there are poor religious people, who try very hard to hang onto their morals, but what happens a lot,is,that morals are luxury of the middleclass, not the poor.

Remember "My Fair Lady"?Eliza's(the flower girl, who was transformed)dad, who was low class British, never married her mom. Now,when he ended up inheriting money, because he had become middleclass, and "decent",he had to marry her mom, finally. Why?Because once you have money, and are middleclass, respectable, you are forced to have morals.(??)--by society.Poor people do not have to get married, ect.,can drink, like he did,and in general not have a good reputation.Neither, apparentally,do the rich.(Notice how movies stars, celebrities, often do not get married, they just have kids.)

The rich,he sings, can play around as much as they like; But the middleclass, have to be respectable, forced by society to be that way.The very poor, cannot afford morals, they have to do whatever they can,to survive.(very often true.)The rich are too well off, society cannot touch them. But the middleclass are in the crunch;THEY ARE THE ONES,who, when they lose respectibility, get tilted socially, economically, down. They are not rich enough to be loose. But bad morals from them, can economically, socially ruin them. The other 2 classes can do what they like(as pointed out in "My Fair Lady")But Eliza's dad sings mornfully, that since he has money,NOW he's forced to be moral. Ha ha. hope that answers yer question slightly.(Yes,there are moral poor people, but not as often in the modern world. They get temptations, squeezed,no money in tight places, and their young abandon morals at not helping them at all,in the world. )It's not fun,or happy,to be poor in a world of fancy Nike,Adidas sneakers, gold chains, hip purses, status items, and great technology. It may be worse for poor people now, than before.)

"Whaddya mean, those are the DEMOCRATS?"says Medicare,as the stranger kills her,and Medicaid, and the Public Option(I just read, the govt.wants to do away with Medicaid long-term care?and make everyone get private, eventually.)Sorry for badly done art, badly drawn.yow.I hate this program!!I remember I never did like it much, now I know why.I'm spoiled by the others.

Sorry for political tirades, just ignore all this;in our state,Oregon, measures 66 and 67 are being voted on,so that anyone earning $250.a year(and corporations)will be taxed,to hold up the state's services. In a Depression, they want to drive out anyone who's not poor,(that's the upper middleclass)and any business that is still in Oregon.(we have very little industry, and business, cause none of them want to move to another Democrat's govt. and legislature,to be taxed to death, like California was.)We have less and less industry here, less jobs, and more Democrats and Liberal politicians and govt. And more poor people. You wanta see a "welfare state,"that's Oregon!!It's in peril of completely going bankrupt.color us California. Now I know why England went back to the hard-liners.You're completely ok to dissagree with me,we do not get sent to prison for our opinions, and I do not hate you.

Every time I see one of your paintings I get a bad feeling about the country. My current issue is..did Obama really wait four days before rising to this attempted airplane bombing? I kept saying noo, I've been busy, not much tv..must have missed something...looks like I did not. What is his problem?? I hate the fact that I have zero confidence in him. BLaH
Good art, dorothy. Always an entertaining and creative outlet.
dorothyblueeyes (Jan 4, 2010)
Thank you for the compliments.GA sounds ok,I should do that,if i could.Sorry about the bad feeling about the country,I guess it's not in good shape.uh..it's true,Obama waited 4days till rising to this airplane bombing thing?ugh.Did not know that.So he just ignored it?Wierd, makes me feel unsafe, too,I'm not taking airplanes anymore.(thanks for the tip, other person, who told me about "sumo paint".It's incredible.I'm amazed.Really wild website and software.Maybe I will wreak more havoc on that website, also,if they let me,heh heh.)
Purplemartin (Jan 20, 2010)
They are making massive cuts, even backdoor ones, and yes these are supposed to be the Democrats that supposely "help the poor". No both are in the back pocket of insurance companies. This is a great drawing that says it all!

When will people ever understand that business's don't pay taxes. People pay taxes. If you increase taxes on business, they raise their price and pass the cost on to you.

This is funny.....I like it.....:)
Purplemartin (Jan 20, 2010)
This one is great. Too many taxes, and small businesses suffer and the poster that wrote we all pay for it is right! There is a balance there somewhere between needed services and just taxing people to death, and its gone way over to the extreme side! I got scared when I found out how much taxes someone even making 60,000 had to pay. I thought man someone with that kind of salary has got to be doing good think again. Also people paying 800-900 bucks a month for property taxes on even average suburban homes, is insane!
