One of my Childhood favorites
Sweetcell (Sep 13, 2006)
I had one of those growing up (but I can't remember if it was Anne or Andy) And I still have a childrens book from the 80's. Thanks for the memories Kute. :)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 13, 2006)
Raggedy Ann! :) I loved the book, and my Raggedy Ann doll was one of my favorites, although I put her through way more hell than Marcella did in the stories...my Alaskan Simoan dog Snow White ripped my Raggedy Ann's head off in the end. I think we should start calling Marcello "Marcella"... it's much closer to home. :DI'm glad you did this picture, it brought back lots of funny memories, and you did such a cute job in depicting them.
KuteDymples (Sep 14, 2006)
Thanks everyone for the great comments on these, I guess they are just "Old Favorites" of a lot of people. Actually I do paint a lot of childrens characters for pay but on canvas I do much better than on the net. I am really not half as good as I would like to be. I have painted so many Winnie the Pooh pictures I have grown not to like "The Pooh" much. LOL My favorite childrens characters to paint is Disney, Mickey and Minnie. I just love them and could never paint them enough.

Just another attempt at realism
emmamommalag (Sep 13, 2006)
They look good enough to eat! My little granddaughters picked most of my tomatoes and threw them all over the back yard last weekend. Grrrrr..
Sweetcell (Sep 14, 2006)
Pick one, make a sauce.
KuteDymples (Sep 14, 2006)
I like 'em just sliced with salt and peppa! My mouth is watering as I type. Actually my favorite tomatoe are the "green fried" ones. Yummy!
STARZSHINE (Feb 11, 2008)

don't see many green eyes around.....I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished kutie!Added the bright highlight from the light as she was looking up
camadeon (Sep 8, 2006)
I like the eyes, you have done this very well. Green is a beautiful color :)
KuteDymples (Sep 8, 2006)
Thank you. It was from a picture of my daughters friend on her myspace account, she is a pretty girl. I will be doing one of her full face soon hopefully. |

Gonna be hard
Qwerty_Wittle_Fawah (Sep 6, 2006)
Yay! you finished now I can comment...I love how you lightened up her hair and clothes it really makes her blue eyes pop out. She is beautiful
Sweetcell (Sep 6, 2006)
This is nicely done. Profiles can be hard but you did hers well. It's silly but I'm loving how you made the cloth near the armpit look likes it's not simply resting there but there's a space between the cloth and the skin. Very subtle and well done that.
KuteDymples (Sep 7, 2006)
Sweetcell, I had changed that spot, originally it looked terrible and it bothered me. I was happy with it too. :-) I have an easier time with profiles than the full face for some reason, I am trying one right now of Angelina and I can't get her face right to save my life. But I am not giving up, hopefully you will see that here soon as well. and Wittle Fawah, her hair was very hard, actually I believe I lightened it too much, but by the time I was done with it, I was afraid to change it anymore. Thank you both for your nice comments.

More still life
Shigatsu_Sensei (Sep 5, 2006)
Nice job since finnished....You and Rukia have the most recognizeable work ^^
Sweetcell (Sep 6, 2006)
This turned out very pretty. You do still lifes well. Maybe a few more shadows on the vase to have it look more substantial, as well as some shadows on the leaves and flowers that intersect or lay over the other. And as well highlights here and there, like the wrought iron. That's wrought iron right?
KuteDymples (Sep 7, 2006)
I wanted to go back and add some more shadows, but I had asked for space so many times on this one that I was about afraid to try it again. You are right about the shadows and highlights though, now looking back on this one. Yes, that is wrought iron (or simulated wrought iron) LOL Thanks for the great comments and suggestions. Airin and Shigatsu Sensei, your opinions mean so much to me as well...I love feedback on my drawings, even if they are not good. Yours please me well.
STARZSHINE (Feb 11, 2008)
very nice piece. love that you used some depth in your colors. |

Thank you, it was just a quick drawing before leaving today.
emmamommalag (Aug 29, 2006)
It's beautiful. I love the vibrant colors and the lighting.
Sweetcell (Aug 29, 2006)
My least favorite flower, maybe because we had so many growing wild in our garden. But you made them pretty.

Another still life flower drawing
patienceisoverrated (Aug 25, 2006)
I think the perspective on the table doesn't match up with the perspective on the glass, and that's why your background looks a little funky. Try making the angle the corner of the table forms much wider, almost a staight line :) But other than that, this is coming along nicely.
KuteDymples (Aug 25, 2006)
I think you are right about the perspective, as soon as I get some time I will finish this up. Today was a busy day for me, I am making a three tier wedding cake and two double layer heart side cakes. Been at it for over 6 hours now. I ran out of space on this too, will have to get some more granted. Thanks for the advice. Kind of plain but have artists block

I have always loved still life and floral arrangments so I am going to give this a try.
Airin (Aug 21, 2006)
interesting composition, pleasant to see, an older brass or copper pot?
KuteDymples (Aug 21, 2006)
Yeah, tried to make it look really old with some patina. Thanks for the nice comments elly and Airin!
Sweetcell (Aug 22, 2006)
This was my mothers favorite flower, she had them all over th place and took real good care of them. Pains me that I killed them, but the memories of how she showed them off proudly are imbedded in my mind.Terracotta right? Looks like terracotta. Pretty pretty picture.
Shigatsu_Sensei (Aug 28, 2006)
awwww....how sweet. Too bad they died....at least the memories will never die. Nice job on this picture....it's peaceful.........*by the way.....terricotta....can you tell me what that means? They sing about a terricotta pie in a song by System of a Down. Lol. |
