This is a good piece. The metallic look is good and it has a 3D quality too
Aakyra (May 9, 2008)
Good color and depth in this. Nice work... I agree with Poppa the focal point has a metallic quality that is very nicely rendered!
Sweetcell (May 10, 2008)
Would make a great Death Mask.
Try making this out of paper mache' for Halloween. I can imagine the looks you'd get. :D

I like this ,too.
lori (May 10, 2008)
this is great Kulu :)
Sweetcell (May 10, 2008)
What an ingenius way to use empty space. The man's face looks like it's turning into a skeleton with the use of darks which ties into the flatline, which of course represent death. At least that's what I see. I like art that makes you interpret things your own way.
Kulu (May 10, 2008)
thanks guys n gals..the dude is kinda inspired by an old ghost rider scene from a comic, but its from memory. the ekg turned out okay too

Kulu (May 10, 2008)

I wanna read the fuck out of this book. So awesome.
davincipoppalag (Jun 6, 2008)
It looks like the latest edition of Dianetics (with a foreword from Tom Screwy)
Deino (Jun 6, 2008)
It looks like a book of fire based spells! :D Very nicely done, yes,
Sweetcell (Jun 6, 2008)
Oh don't compare this to Dianetics Dave, I implore you.
I agree about Tommy boy though. Let's all laugh histerically while wearing a black turtle neck.

Came out great Kay. It is the book of Kayos.

Aww doggy!
Aakyra (May 5, 2008)
Such a beautiful boy... the more you work on this, the better it gets. The love you have for this guy is evident in your work.
Kulu (May 6, 2008)
thank you...the balance between tone and texture was tricky...i still look at ver 5 and wonder if i should have left it there
Aakyra (May 6, 2008)
I agree, fur is tricky... as well as the eyes and noses of animals.. you did a great job with all. I went back and looked at version 5 and I somewhat agree a softer background color, something to bring out the warm brown tones might work. I think you're right on target!

Reminds me of this holographic shirt pen my brother used to have..it's cool:)
enjoydotcom (May 6, 2008)
DK, if you look besides the image, and only see it from the corners of your eyes, it will move. At least, it did when I looked.
At first I also wanted to say, not advanced. Until I noticed you used Lascaux, that to the best of my knowledge does not have a texture like the background. So at least you get a 'kudos' for that.
gel_o (May 6, 2008)
ouch...very interesting.
Kulu (edited May 8, 2008)
thanks all...bmw what makes a pen specifically a shirt pen? ;)

and enjoy, advanced was used for size...these types of illusions are hard to replicate effectively on a smaller scale. as per the textures, well, its not, its lines...lots of them, with just enough frequency to sequence evenly..there are some imperfections, and it does not have the effect i wanted, but im happy

In recognition and memory of "Eight Belles", Kentucky Derby - 2008
Your "Run for the Roses" was magnificent....

From sire to sire, it's born in the blood
The fire of a mare and the strength of a stud
It's breeding and it's training ... and it's something unknown
That drives you and carries you home.
And it's run for the roses as fast as you can
Your fate is delivered and your moment's at hand
It's the chance of a lifetime, in a lifetime of chance ...
And it's high time you joined in the dance

thanks Kulu and DJ
Shanghai (May 21, 2008)
I'm really liking this because it's very minimalistic and still works and carries interest. I almost want to say it's an in-your-face type of image but the muted colors keep it from going over the top and I think that was a good choice.
davincipoppalag (May 21, 2008)
Yay.. You won second place Congats!!

jpjp, this is great. Keds have always been so fasinated with these. When I grow up, I would like to become a clown and make these for children!
Aakyra (May 2, 2008)
You captured the texture of the balloon perfectly! It screams squeaky... Perfect, perfect, perfect!
gel_o (May 2, 2008)
How cute...love the 3D look to this one.
