I walked into my daughters room and found this. It is exactly what is on her wall. I couldnt help but be mad but proud at the same time. So I took a picture

jwoup (Mar 4, 2005)
Saw this work of art first hand.........notice the poot and the frown on the blob next to the pooter.......when I asked her what it (poot) said, she said mommy.......Hmmmmmm. Out of the mouths of babes.....
somebody (Mar 4, 2005)
Oh my. Are you saying I'm a poot. hehe. No, wait, I think it was my daughter. Oh dear
sinann (Jun 10, 2006)
Which one drew it? It's cute she included her brother (poot). Tell them I said hello and I love them.

oooo! can i name him? PWEASE?!?!?
spiritdweller (edited Feb 27, 2005)
so what is it Gigge? an elephant, right? I love them, hehe, took a ride on one with my son when he was smaller :D I love the animal shows that they talk about elephants on... how they remember their friends and family, if they're separated or whatever... they can get back together after years and the way they act seems proof that they never forgot each other. so sweet :)... they also mourn their lost ones much the way people do... hehe... we also call my mother elephant ears... she's an avid eavesdropper.
davincipoppalag (Feb 27, 2005)
This is beatiful Gigge. The emotional intelligence you can see in an elephant's eye is there. YOu did great.
Gigge (Feb 28, 2005)
Lori: Yup, an elephant.. The reference is called "elephant closeup" . ;) I like them. I think their whole social system is amazing, especially the elephant graveyards.

Anna: Using a reference is like following directions to me. No matter what my intentions are or how hard I try, I can't do it. So kind of you to see my flaw as an asset.

silver maiden: Be careful what you name her. She might take offense at being called a he. ;)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. :)

This looks great so far.

[edit]How about if you post the link of Zack's ref pic in your description? (u know, instead of going back to the 'How About This?' topic in the forum to check back on it--just a thought). Make it easier for people, ya know. [/edit]
concannon (Feb 28, 2005)
Mmrwor. Great job, I love it. I've been thinking about doing something with that ref, too.
staci (Feb 28, 2005)
yeah totally great job...you got the mood down for sure. the only small thing i would hve added would be some bolder scratchy like marks on the pane of glass in front of the couple so they look more behind it. but woo for her hair
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 28, 2005)
I'm working on this one now... I thought it was such a cool ref. Just dropped in to say I really like your interpretation of it.

this still makes me laugh... lol.... "It's AlIve...."!.... Mad science. I'm not as hyper as I seem, I'm just twisted.
Orkdoop (Feb 28, 2005)
weeeeelll. I like it
Gigge (Feb 28, 2005)
I like the way the body is so fleshy and the head is skull-like. Great contrast.

This is ultra cool!
Gigge (Feb 27, 2005)
This is really well done. I like not having the shading. It adds to the puzzle look. The two of them fit together like puzzle pieces and it takes a moment to puzzle out the angles. Very cool style, Pam.
thug (Feb 27, 2005)
This is very cool! no shading required.
PolythenePam (Feb 27, 2005)
Thanks lots! :D

Her face is wonderful. I love the opera, but I haven't been in years.
thug (Feb 27, 2005)
holy crap! you've been doing some great art lately Lori. and on a personal note I hope you are feeling as good as your art looks. 8)
k4m154m4 (Feb 27, 2005)
Oh man, I love the colours and pose here. Her hands and face look a tad too blurry, but otherwise I love it. ;3

hhmm I agree with pantera, that helped me alot.. tho i still suck at hair :/ but maybe starting with a darker base color.. then working up, as staci said with a slightly higher opacity with colors, adding highlights, and lowering flow and opacity as the colors get brighter.. other than that it looks nice Davinci :)
davincipoppalag (Feb 26, 2005)
Yea staci's tutorial is great.. Ill keep practicing..
Anna (Feb 26, 2005)
Danny hit it right... Just darken up the base color a little more and there ya have it :-) This is pretty good, pops!
Aubrey (Mar 6, 2005)
Does look really nice Poppa. Hair's always been hard for me.
