I have no idea why she asked me to do this, with all of the wonderful "portrait" artists here like Gigandas, Icats, well, pretty much everybody can do ppl better than me. I'll do my best.

yay! I learned about Hendri De Toulouse-Lautrec in Art History today. :) haha, when I saw this image I instanly feel in love with the sickly colors and the careless strokes that the lovely impressionist use. I don't think I can exactly capture the truthful artistic qualities of the actual painting but the colors and lighting effect looked really fun to do :D

Toulouse-Lautrec was a dwarfish mishappen man. He felt outcast and started frequenting prostitutes. That led him to the Paris cabaret scene and most of his work was done in those places. I love his work. It is full of color and action. There was a great movie about him starring Jose Ferrer back in the 60's I believe. THis captures that flavor quite nicely. What was that saying? Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder? lol
Pandora (Apr 13, 2004)
I think you captured this beautifully. I wonder why he made the eyes so hollow looking. Did he not see anything in them?
Knockoff (Apr 13, 2004)
Really nice kasha! I love the colors also.
Also you did a great job with shading n stuff.
concannon (Apr 13, 2004)
Oh, I love Toulouse! Great job.

His full name: Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec Monfa.

Oh yes.

Hehe, looking good so far^^.The woman looks really well done with the structure, but the man looks like it still needs to be touched up some.Like davinci said, the eyes could be relaxed or in other words, not football-shaped.Actually, it's closer to a rounded rhombus shape and what you could do is pull the eyelid further over his iris and a bit over the pupil maybe. The lips could also use a division alone the center region because the bottom lip is just a bit too large compared to the top lip. Those ideas might do him some good^^.But hey, knowing you dixie, I'm sure you'll do a great job when it's all finished^^.Like I said though, looking good for being in process^^.

okay, i'm outta space, so i guess i'm gonna callit a day on this one...imagine a pretty bg ;p
Gigandas (Apr 12, 2004)
Looks like you got some time to work on it some more^^.This is looking better. His face seems more relaxed so that's definitely good^^.Hmm, maybe all it's missing now are the pupils. If you want, you could also define the eyelid more too.But this softness you got going on is nice, so you might not want to be defining stuff too much.Hey, it still looks great though^^.Very relaxing to look at.
dixielandcutie (Apr 12, 2004)
lol, okay, completely forgot about the eyes...pffft...maybe i should ask for more space and fix that stuff...*sigh* we'll see how much it bugs me in the next couple hours, hehe...thanks gig

Heh, this is cute. But if they're gonna be extinct, shouldn't the tiger be looking sad?Just wondering^^;.But nice pic though^^.
BlackLaertes (Apr 12, 2004)
Gigandas: I suppose I was trying to portray the sweet innocence of the young tiger...how beautiful and cute they are, and thus, we must save them ^^;;
kiku kiku kiku u now we lov u but its kind of funny and cute

here in texas we have 2 white tigers at the zoo. its sad that people dont understand what theyre doing to these poor animals. theyre only doing what nature is meant to do. survive. btw, i luv the art!

out of procrastination, a Japanese gothic-glam rock star is born (albeit a rather tame, sorta nerdy one).

p.s. are they called gothic-glam rockers, or do they just fall under the j-pop catagory? oh well...

edit: its not quite finished. i wanna add more definition in the face and do a few more things, but when i try to revise it the bar in the little loading box will get right to the end and freeze. apparently i can't work on it. i'll keep trying for a few days, then i'll just set it to finished. blah...

edit 2: well, it won't let me finish, so i am setting to finished now.

very nice.... The sparseness of the majority of the picture coupled with the cool shades of the hair really works well... :)
lxveisblind (Jun 24, 2004)
Wow...this is really amazing. I especially like the shine of the hair and lips (random, I know, but still...) My only word of advice is the hairline/eyebrow look a little pixely (if you know what I'm even talking about) But overall this is a really fantastic picture.
evil_cloud (Oct 13, 2004)
Its an odd drawing (that doesnt mean its bad ^-^)

You know better what you were thinking about, but in any case its a good job

Wow, looks really nice to me.The bg finally brought out the bird instead of sucking him into it :).I like the texture of the feathers and god I can't say it enough, but your birds are just awesome XD.Dunno what that white spot on its wing is, but that's the only thing that's kinda bugging me><.Everything else, well, leave it the way it is^^.What can I say, another great piece :).

good question... but, I do kinda agree, that it's not totally worthy of advanced...
Gigandas (Apr 12, 2004)
How the heck does my stuff like my last one stay on advanced compared to this???I don't get it^^;.....Marcello should move my stuff down too if that's the case...
