I like the blocky shading + strong outline, it's awesome. Not sure how useful it is for anatomy practice but it's a cool graphic effect.
Dr.Snoopy (Oct 29, 2006)
MrPaul, thanks for pointing that out...I din#t really noticed that before.
Well it was just intended to be very quick anatomy practice mixed with some graphical stuff to make it watchable in this board...but these tips do actually help....so don't stop ^^
And yeah I noticed the big head and hands too...but they do fit very well (original).

This is the issue with using paintings and sculptures as reference, they are never 100% correct. And this is why I hate my anatomy-book ...it's full of lousy handmade drawings(or doodles), and it tell you to draw people in real life. But this is hard, because I'm not going to find a naked person, willing to pose for me a few hours a day, that easily.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Oct 29, 2006)
I like the way it's kind of in a "poster edge" style and the palette is really pleasing. I don't think everything has to be anatomically correct to be pleasing (actually, a little "morphing" of that in a work like this makes it more interesting sometimes)

Very sexy, yes.

The Mask meets Dracula ... nice expression...I don't want to know where the woman has her hands :P
Sweetcell (Oct 25, 2006)
I think by his expression we know where her hand is. *ba rump bump.* Great use of shading.

wonderfully alluring
Felistorm (Oct 24, 2006)
I absolutely LOVE this. The colors and the mood of it!
Sweetcell (Oct 25, 2006)
Now this.... this draws me in. Your getting so good with this program. The facial features are wonderful but the little bit you did with the drops of water (or whatever) makes this stand out. Love, love the colors in this.
Alter.Native (Oct 26, 2006)
Thank you much people..Started liking this program..as long as it follows my whims, all is fine..

There's something very soothing about drawing smooth curvy lines late at night. For me, anyway. I dunno about the rest of you.

Well I think, it's hard to rush such a smooth and clean lineart..that's why you have to calm down.
I like this one...yummy shading. Somehow I want to bite something off from those candles ^^
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Nov 2, 2006)
This looks like a Christmas card.... so pretty. It's warm and cinnamony and I love it. (even though I hate Christmas, and Christmas cards, and Christmas songs, and Christmas trees, and Christmas presents... etc.... I still like this picture, even though it DOES look like a Christmas card.) :)
davincipoppalag (Nov 2, 2006)
I like the way you did the light halos...
Pantera (Nov 7, 2006)
Very nice candles, I agree with dba about the xmas card part :)

I didn't directly say I hated anything, and if I do, I'll make sure to draw a picture on this website so everyone can see that I hate it

ahahah, this is great. colours are delicious. i feel the need to comfort your frustrated little man (no sexual innuendo intended).

my two cents: i don't feel there's anything inherently wrong with anime-- there's some incredibly skilled masters of the style out there, no doubt.
but there's a hell of a lot more anime that doesn't fit into that category, and the pervasivity (i made up that word, but it sounds good) of it is insane. it' impossible to avoid all the art and artists of the style-- many of whom are very young and therefore naturally more inclined to fanaticism-- creating sheer armies of anime eyesores. what ticks me off the most is that 95% of it looks the same. like a great big ball of siamese twins from a million different mother.
mmm. not the greatest similie.
needless to say, i can't say i'm much a fan.
ItzChronic (edited Jan 20, 2009)
Oh gawd. This drawing describes exactly how I feel every time I get on DA. I love good anime, and I love stylized cartoons; but goddamn, I also like to see some diversity. Especially since my artistic style is still very limited and it does good to expand. I see enough anime bullcrap in my notebook every day, and that's why I like getting online to see other stuff. o3o

Nothing wrong with anime... It's just.... A little annoying sometimes. Maybe a bit too popular, you know? (ahhheemmmmprobablytheeasieststyletolearnhackhackhack)
LN (Jan 22, 2009)
eh. "Anime style" is just stylized anatomy. American-Comic style uses stylized anatomy as well. There are good Anime artists, and goon American Comic artists. I don't see why we need to bash those artists who are still learning, wether they use anime or american comic style. Or maybe I'm just ranting because I'm a bad anime artist myself :\ dunno.

hey guys. as youve probably noticed ive been straying from digital art lately, been exploring new things. most of the summer ive been doing spraypainting, but im still artistically hungry for new things to try. new mediums. ive been looking for something more my style. spraypainting is amazing, i love it, but im about the white-est unghetto person i know and i hate saying im a graffiti artist. and the spray is huuuuge. and if you know my style i like more black detailed line work and fine ble...
