The Insanely Talented 10-Year Old Artist...
Gigandas (Jan 10, 2005)
Okay, so I'm sure as some of you already know, there is this insanely talented 10-year old girl who's shown up on some TV shows, as I have seen, but I was talking to Wasil on AIM and she gave me a link to her gallery.So anyway, if anyone is interested in checking out her work, here it is........(Caution:You may want to quit drawing entirely after seeing this.....just a warning)

...Until they are taken away. Spending 2 & 1/2 days in jail made me realize how much we take for granted with the freedom we have.
Don't drink & drive, if you do, don't get caught, jail is no fun. Just a public service announcement from sincity. O.K. I'm done preachin' where's my Corona!!! >;}

I still come to look at this one. I really like it. Not only because it is very well-drawn and there is so much to look at... but because there's a real story behind it. This is one of my favorites.

I was just thinking... (holy crap I was???!)
Deformed (Jan 3, 2005)
Anyway, I was just browsing the forums and I got a good gander at all of the cries for a collaberation partner. I was just thinking that some kind of a collab randomizer would be usefull. Like you click a link to it and there is a button. Then you could click the button and the "randomizer" would pick a user with about the same points as you to collab with that has recentlyclicked the button too. If you don't like the user or somthing you could like click the button again and it would re-randomi...

I bet you would love a description for this one, but too bad. I can't quite articulate why I would draw this.

changing the grey lines to black might help, but I think a better approach might be to get rid of that background all together. Try to put her into her environment (for instance: in her house which might have flames in it or an evil family etc). I know that sounds like a lot more work, but thats the point. As it stands, you must have spent a lot of time trying to make those gradual tone colors in her clothing, but they dont have any reason to change color without a light source. Folds, wrinkles, and the way the light will play off of them are ways to make the picture realistic, but those can be advanced techniques that you might not need to worry about yet. I would advise you to take that shading time and effort and invest it into a quality composition with an integrated background. So keep on it!

If you're going to attemp furries, you should get a longer canvas, and focus more on the actual person and proportions, and stuff. Then you could get the details down faster.
edit: You should also try to spend a little more time on stuff, it'd probably look nicer. >_>
DinoFlorist (Dec 27, 2004)
Boo on you naysayers. I can't really tell you how to draw a "furry," but I can tell you that this is a good piece. Its loose, sure, but thats not always a bad thing. The composition is nice. Both the color and shading are well done. I mean, this is a fast, loose, piece, but it's still one of your best in my opinion.

Focusing on the actual person is not always the best way to make a beautiful picture. Look at all the crappy furries people draw with backgrounds that are just a pattern or worse. (I am sometimes guilty of this too.) Putting your main focal point INTO (and not in front of) their environment makes for a stronger and more realistic picture.
