I like it I like it I like it! It looks like my first Barbie Doll! lol (only barbie got me into alot of trouble, see, because she thought Ken was gay, and she wanted to shack up with GI Joe, see, so I let her. But Joe was always tangled up in that parachute in the yard, and Ken was always comin around... I think he had the hots for G.I. Joe, too, anyway, I bought them the camper (not the Barbie Car) so that she and Joe could get away... and I'll have to tell ya the rest of it.. there's the part where she always loses one pink shoe... and.. yeah, have to finish later. lolol

This is a great picture!
davincipoppalag (Mar 19, 2004)
this is your fault DBA..but here goes.. Little girl does great in school, so her mom says "ok I will take you to the toy store and you can get whatever you want" Little girl says immediately" I want a Barbie and a G.I.Joe!"
Mom says.."but honey, Barbie comes with Ken!"..Little girl says.."No mom.. she fakes it with Ken"...... arrrgggh
"
laurael (Mar 19, 2004)
You guys are hilarious! That's funny, you mentioning Barbie. When I finished this, it reminded me of her, but it wasn't intentional at all...
Kasha (Mar 19, 2004)
lol, yes they are funny, that aside, this pic is so cute. Really does look like Barbie. :)

"In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade and he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him till he cried out in his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving!" but the fighter still remains...." ~ Simon and Garfunkle (another favorite)

You didn't ruin it. You overworked it a little. I know what you do... it reaches a point where it's great, but you don't see it yet, you look at it and think, but... it could be better if I just do this, and that, and pretty soon...you start to become frustrated and it's overworked. I actually still like v.2 the best. But I understand you, and I like you, and I like your art, and I like all the versions.
dixielandcutie (Mar 19, 2004)
well said dba, lol. and this new version is very cool. i like the silveryish coloring better! awesomeness axil

That's wonderful. As I was scanning through the Advanced Art and carefully (or rather, nonchalantly) criticizing each one, I stumbled upon yours. Truly wonderful, Axil -- I always admire your art. You have an amazing style -- Reminds me of Van Gogh (the circles compared to his wavy lines).

wow impressive, another one I wouldn't have recognized as yours had I not known

Varmint hunting, yeah. For coyotes and hogs and stuff. Or with a black light for scorpions. Anything else the game weirdo'll getcha for. :) I usually go in when the weather looks like this, though. At least get in a cave or under a bluff or something. I love the colors you used here. I'm partial to purple lightning pictures. I painted a real painting with a purple sky and lightning once.
davincipoppalag (Mar 18, 2004)
Whoa DMV..good one.. I would be running for cover too!
dixielandcutie (Mar 18, 2004)

My great grandpa was a cattle rancher, and wouldn't let them drill oil wells on his land. My grandpa was an oil man... had them drill oil wells and didn't want any cows. My Daddy put cows on the land with the oil wells. These things don't smell any better than the cows. The moral of this story is... money stinks?

thug (Mar 17, 2004)
couldn't help notice how fast you cranked this one out. So beautiful with such ease. My favorite part is the telephone poles and the bird nest in the tree.
laurael (Mar 18, 2004)
Another awesome pic. Uh...bird nest in the tree? Am I due for new glasses or just a new imagination? I guess either one wouldn't hurt, huh?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 19, 2004)
No, don't get new glasses laurael! Actually, I didn't intentionally put a bird's nest anywhere, but my daughter and I found a little bloop I must've done in one of the little mesquite shrubby things (I don't know.. I just make it up as I go lol) that could be a bird's nest. Thug is very observant!

ok im done i did the best i could anyways any comments are greatly thanked
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 17, 2004)
It does have depth... the stem is 3 dimensional. I think the reason why the petals didn't stand out as well as you wanted (and you are probably too critical of yourself... we lefthanders tend to be that way lol) is because they were blurred a bit. Blurring the background and keeping the front subject in focus will give a still life some depth. It is very pretty, anyway. And left handers rock!
