Specialty Boards/Contest!
Coolsoft (Sep 2, 2005)
Phoebus Hupza and Sheila, Sludick.

(Hey a creature is anything that's created, right?)
Sludick is the plural form. Phoebus' main job is to catch fish for feeding his wife and himself. His tail functions as a rudder, and his powerful hairy lower legs are used in running and jumping around(An excercise he performs often when he plays with the bunnies) and engineered much like those of a kangaroo to help him to avoid mines. His large toes are webbed helping him to swim faster to avoid the alligator. His head of heavy hair helps to protect him from flying coconuts. His wife, a female sludick has fairy-like wings. she has no trouble avoiding mines at all, as she never sets down on a spot which Phoebus has not already scouted. She loves to cradle the bunnies and coo to them in a singing sort of voice. Both are highly energetic... more if I get more time... I've got to move quick I hope to finish before 10.

Sure looks like a creature to me...the idea of this contest was to use imagination..and you sure did that!
DinoFlorist (Sep 3, 2005)
I can make the people out and it looks like it would be really great! It is too bad that you didnt have a chance to refine this further before the deadline, but you should still finish it even though it is not eligible to 'win.' Just please dont have it update into the newer contest (uncheck the update revision box).
Coolsoft (Sep 3, 2005)
Unfortunately didn't get back until it was too late to do anything, but I guess I'll try to finish this up later.

Was using a mouse, and just wanted to draw. I didn't really want to paint anything. I think I prefer my tablet more. This is the type of stuff I would do with a ball-point pen I guess.

I like this very very much. Nice cheeks :-)
davincipoppalag (Apr 5, 2005)
This must have killed your wrist~ so many lines! It's a very interesting sketch, and I like that you did it with blue.
Coolsoft (Apr 5, 2005)
actually if you move the mouse using your elbow, it's not too bad.(I must say, my hand was a little cramped though.)

Not sure if there was a book by that title or not, the phrase just inspired me. Added the lens flare for effect, worked out a little better than I thought it would -- Still not as sharp as I'm aiming for, but better than the last.(I think.) Criticizm anyone?(Please, constructive only.)

Very nice, Jeremiah and I think the light glare looks fine.
broken-lock14 (Jan 6, 2005)
Everything is very lovely. I don't have much to say since I don't see any major problems, and I don't think I could describe the wonderful feelings this gives me. It's so awesome. =^~.~^=
HunterKiller_ (Jan 6, 2005)
This is excellent ^.^
Coolsoft (edited Jan 6, 2005)
The duration was actually a bit longer, because I hit a link by accident during the second edit and had to reload the image.(Ahh, I'm glad oekaki preserves the temporary applet image.) Thanks everybody.

Stark Contrast?

I highly doubt it; one of the villains is just "grown up." (I know I know, Pan isn't a villain, but he could be, because I still don't have any idea why he's so cruel to Hook, other than the fact that Hook has tried to kill him several times.)

I started this after I decided I didn't like the composition of the other "Pan Portrait" I drew. I guess it looks a bit better.
The last 3 pics. were the same one, I tried to submit the third edit, but my browser hung up, resent it again on the fourth, browser hung up again, fifth try said it was successful.(Now I have no space left to finish it, wish that I did.)

Hand Cramp, checking to see how it looks before calling it finished. (Pete's hair looks kinda flat there... and hook's shirt sleeve is in need of sharpening.

fixed background(or the lack thereof) a bit....
davincipoppalag (Dec 6, 2004)
This looks worth the effort, It has that..paint on velvet feel, it's unusual.
Coolsoft (edited Dec 7, 2004)
Yeah, I felt like drawing a pirate, so I decided to draw Hook and since Hook was in the picture, I figured I should also put Peter Pan in somewhere.(Which is why the composition was messed up on the other one that I deleted.)

Thanks everybody. Green, where?
davincipoppalag (Nov 18, 2004)
XOD didn't turn green until he was out of the army Mike..
Coolsoft (Nov 20, 2004)
Davincipoppalaq, is the sharpness any better on this pic than my previous ones?
Xodiak (Nov 20, 2004)
Hehe, it looks great... nice helmet! Dave, I think they kicked me out of army when Xod said: Make love, not war! <:D
Awesome drawing! The texture and the colouring on the helmet makes it very metallic-like... <:)

Just thought I'd give it a go again. A major light washout, but it looks ok.(Well, better than the first two edits anyway.)

Very pretty. It looks almost like an ink that's been blotted up. She does look like she's making a wish.
sincity (Oct 9, 2004)
I'm wishing it was done.
davincipoppalag (Oct 9, 2004)
I keep wanting to clean my glasses, can you sharpen it up?
Coolsoft (Oct 16, 2004)
Actually, I can't sharpen it up.(right now.) I think I'd need a little more practice.

To those of you Sudanese who are suffering for Jesus Christ, who have had your homes burned, and many, your families crucified in mass crucifixtions:

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all of our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ." 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:10

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every wieght, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Hebrew 12:1-2

God, please help them to endure in their tribulation; help them to stand for your sake, and give them comfort and consolation in their time of trouble. I pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I am awestruck. This is one of the most moving pieces I have seen on the site. This is very excellent work. You have conveyed pain (mostly on my back) and suffering to me, without using much detail. Bravo, Coolsoft!

Thanks, but had not God laid on the heart of the pastor of my church a mission's conference about the persecuted church, I probably never would have drawn this. Hebrews 13:3, "...as bound with them..."

It reminds me of the things that hopeless romantics imagine... umm... needed some practice with my tablet. I wasn't really going to color it.. so it's a bit of a line art image. I really needs some work, but I don't have the time to do something to it.

This is cool. I love the style. The only thing I would suggest is to leave in more of the darker value. For example, leave more areas... unscratched (?). (That's what this looks like to me... scraffito). Leaving more areas blue in this pic will show off more of the picture itself. ...if that made any sense. lol. Maybe even use the blue you have on there as a middle value? And use a darker value for the darkest parts?? It's a possibility. Yes, anyway... the face is very well done considering the style! Tres bien!

Another Paint BBS drawing. Umm, well, I've never studied hand anatomy, so this is a little off.(I think.)

Ok..then the sword you drew is a bit out of line with the hilt as I said in the first comment.
Coolsoft (Jul 6, 2004)
Yeah. I think it is.
emmamommalag (Jul 6, 2004)
Even so... it's a very nice picture. I like your work on the hands.
