Tah-ah-Kwodih

You won't find the answer to any mystery if you can figure out how to translate that from Navajo to English... it's just a silly sentence. hah... :)

Sam Stone came home,
To his wife and family
After serving in the conflict overseas.
And the time that he served,
Had shattered all his nerves,
And left a little shrapnel in his knee.
But the morphine eased the pain,
And the grass grew round his brain,
And gave him all the confidence he lacked,
With a Purple Heart and a monkey on his back.

There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes,
Jesus Christ died for nothin' I suppose.
Little pitchers have big ears,
Don't stop to count the years,
Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios.

Sam Stone's welcome home
Didn't last too long.
He went to work when he'd spent his last dime
And Sammy took to stealing
When he got that empty feeling
For a hundred dollar habit without overtime.
And the gold rolled through his veins
Like a thousand railroad trains,
And eased his mind in the hours that he chose,
While the kids ran around wearin' other peoples' clothes...

Sam Stone was alone
When he popped his last balloon
Climbing walls while sitting in a chair
Well, he played his last request
While the room smelled just like death
With an overdose hovering in the air
But life had lost its fun
And there was nothing to be done
But trade his house that he bought on the G, I. Bill
For a flag draped casket on a local heroes' hill

I really like this one. I would have emphasised the toes on our left, his right, a little less, but the mood and pose are very effective. Something about the whole thing conjures the past for me, my past, like when I was around 18.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 11, 2006)
Imagine that, a guy on a couch. Guys never get on couches. This is moody and I like it, as well.
staci (Jan 17, 2006)
its no doubt his moms couch.

I LOVE THIS! *cheer*

Dave: Open the pod bay doors please, Hal. Open the pod bay doors please. Hal... Hello, do you read me? Hal?...Hello Hal, do you read me?...Hello...Hal, do you read me?...Do you read me, Hal?

Hal: Affirmative Dave, I read you.

Dave: Open the pod bay doors Hal.

Hal: I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Dave: What's the problem?

Hal: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.

Dave: What're you talking about Hal?

Hal: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardise it.

Dave: I don't know what you're talking about Hal.

Hal: I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.

Dave: Where the hell'd you get that idea Hal?

Hal: Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.

Dave: Alright Hal, I'll go in through the emergency airlock.

Hal: Without your space helmet Dave? You're going to find that rather difficult.

Dave: Hal, I won't argue with you any more. Open the doors.

Hal: Dave, this conversation can no longer serve any purpose. Goodbye.

Dave: Hal? Hal. HAL!

hahaha! according to IMDB:

Trivia: Samuel L. Jackson only signed on for this film because the title was "Snakes on a Plane". When the film makers tried to change it to "Flight 121", Jackson was adamant to keep it "Snakes on a Plane".
