Aubrey (Aug 19, 2004)
It was summertime about 11 years ago.. Us kids had always had the chore of taking turns feeding Two Bits, our Irish Setter we had grown up with since the day we came home from the hospital. My dad had told me to go feed the dog and make sure she had water right before me and my sister were going to go get ready to go swimming. I didn't think it would hurt to wait a little bit, til we were ready, to go out and feed her. As we were getting ready we heard Dad's voice yelling down the hall. He was yelling at me for not checking on her and kept yelling Two Bits is dead. We all ran out the door and I walked up to her laying on the ground not breathing with her leash tangled around a stack of wood we had piled up beside her dog house. I said maybe she's not dead maybe we could wake her back up maybe it just happened we have to try. Mom and Dad both said it was too late, she couldn't reach her water that was by her doggy house.. she died of heat stroke. I took her leash off her collar and sat down with her while the others went in the house. Cradling her. I kept begging her to wake up and take a drink of water so she would be ok, but she never answered. All I could do was hold her. Everytime a fly landed on her I swatted it away and told them to get off her. That was the longest I have ever cried. I blame myself even to this day.. if I had just gone out 10 minutes before.. maybe I could have saved her.

That is really sad...I am so sorry....I just lost a pet a little while ago...so I know how you felt....
Scaramouche (Aug 20, 2004)
Thats so sad. :( You've captured the scene and your emotions soo well in the sketch. Dont blame yourself, these things happen and its nobody's fault.
Aubrey (Aug 20, 2004)
Thanks everybody for your kind comments and I'm sorry for those of you who cried and have lost pets too. It's one of the worst pains of loss I think. *group hug*
silvercoyote (Oct 10, 2004)
This is so sad... but I agree with "davincipoppalag", ten minutes probably wouldn't have made a difference, so it's not your fault.

I think I'll go hug my dog now...

what a cool picture! I love the colors and the texture of it. Very very nice! I have to tell you a secret, when I'm showing friends this website I always take them to your drawings along with DBA's. You two are my favorite and absolutely phenomenal!
Aubrey (Aug 6, 2004)
lol awwww how shweet!! Thanks Trigger :-D and DBA I'm pretty sure there ARE such things as dust bunnies.. and well.. if there are dust bunnies then one can only conclude that there are other dust animals.. I'm sorry, I'll look under your bed for ya from now on lol. Yup I was up all night drawin again Momma and Poppa. *hugs and kisses*
ironoxide_red (Aug 6, 2004)
This is probably the most ethereal looking caveman I've seen (usually they're all earth colors)! I really like that "shadow-with-highlights-in-it" in the area under his chin.
Gigge (Aug 7, 2004)
Very nice. He looks like he's just been thawed out of an iceberg.

Cool. How come my dust isn't that creative? It just morphs from dust bunnies to dust wolves and now I'm afraid to clean under the beds. lol... Neat picture.
emmamommalag (Aug 5, 2004)
This is neat, Aubsy. I like the colors. Kinda reminds me of a zep pic. Where is zep, btw? Haven't seen any zeps the last couple days.

Very cool way to do one, Aubrey. I enjoyed this a lot. Nice, crisp lines to it. Oh, and feel very sorry for Hakkai, while gloating with my dsl connection that took .5 seconds for each panel to load. Nanny nanny boo boo!
laurael (Aug 1, 2004)
Very funny, Aubrey! I'm glad you had all that patience to do this...it was great to go from v to v.
BADICAPO (edited Dec 9, 2004)

I was recently employed by C.B.S. Personnel Services who placed me at Pioneer saying "Pioneer is really well known for hiring on the temporary help they get".. they also said I'd be inspectin stereo speakers. Neither was true. I was put on unpacking all the boxes while the people, who got to do what I originally signed on to do, griped cause I was goin to fast (at a turtle's pace) and treated me like a lowly peasant girl while they got to sit on their thrones and beep things all day. Soooo since everything C.B.S. told me was a lie, I've decided they really didn't false advertise because the BS is right in the name.

This is awesome. It's like yuor own personal political cartoon. I am glad to see you rebel against the corporations. I hate them corporashuns.
Zack (edited Jul 25, 2004)
Disturbingly amusing! Diablo seems to be working the hardest.
Corporations aren't evil, it's the people that work for them. And, as a rule, people are stupid. Come to the dark side! Misanthropy is the only way to stay sane!
edit: Wouldn't he have a tail then? :P
Aubrey (edited Jul 25, 2004)
lol thanks everyone. Zackkkk it's not the Devil, it's a bull pooping.. hence "BS". Silly lol
laurael (Jul 25, 2004)
I agree with everyone here, of course. You have way too much talent to waste your time with any company like that. This picture is great and funny.

This is Dad takin me on a bike ride when I was about one year old. I wish all the memories were like this. Probably half of the 20 hours it says it took to do this was actually spent doing other things away from the computer while takin a break from it, or just being distracted in general.

Just felt like drawing me mowing the grass since I had to the other day. It didn't take forever like the time suggests. I'm easily distracted.

Hehehehe..This is great.
Aubrey (Jun 16, 2004)
Version one was just me doodling a cartoon when I was bored.. so I took my dog for a long walk and when I came back I was thinkin of me havin to mow the grass the next day.. so I drew what was on my mind rather than a doodle. Thanks for the wonderful comments everyone :-D
laurael (Jun 18, 2004)
Really like the style of this one...excellent job on the face, at such a small size...wow. 8]
