Not bad for the first time. I can identify the eyes easily...
Here's a tip: Before you submit your drawing, experiment with the tools available to you. See what each one does and how effective it is. Then, put it to good use. Don't bother submitting it until you're content with what you have. Just experiment for awhile and you'll get the hang of it.

interesting, but you could thin the sword out a bit... it would look far more lethal then... and to fix the bg, you could do some highlights etc and blur them in to the fire....

This is really good! You included a body and attempted a background! ^_______^ I like his two little hair pieces, their awsome. You chould try making his chin a little less pointy though. His head kinda looks like a turnip. =] I like how his shirt's all torn up, it's nifty. =]
