I'd like to comment but I can't because I didn't look. That's my story, etc. (plus I couldn't think of a good scatological pun.)

"Etsuko was arrogant enough to believe that this change could come about all by itself - this change that would not be accomplished unless the eyes of human beings were changed to the eyes of wild boars. She still would not admit it: that we, as long as we have the eyes of men, no matter how our way of looking at things might change, will all in the end come up with the same answer."sadly, I liked the face in V2 the most, but couldn't go back haha

Busted! Yep, it's a part of the face that I'm particularly partial to. If you read up on it, it's a very interesting little dent--can indicate infertility and other health issues but I think this is my favorite thing about it...In Jewish mythology, an angel strikes a newborn on the upper lip right before birth to create the philtrum, so he forgets all he saw and knew as a soul. When I drew this face I kept asking myself "Is this a compassionate face or the face of a corrupt man?" I'm thinkin' the corrupt side won out. Honestly, I thought the thing people would notice first would be that awesome comb-over. '-)
lori (Nov 22, 2012)
That's interesting! Honestly everything about this guy besides his little dent kinda freaks me out.
Roytje (Nov 23, 2012)
Fantastic portrait.

I am an infant when it comes to my drawings... I am also brand new on this site, but I was browsing around and came upon this drawing and I have to say, I really found myself drawn to him... I love his blue eyes. ( I always notice peoples eyes before anything else)! I didn't even notice the "comb over" you mentioned! but what really made me like him was his eyebrows! You are an extremely talented artist. One, you obviously have all of the proportions correct and all of the fundamentals down pat... But mainly because you have the ability to give them life. You bring out emotion in the people you draw and I truly admire that in an artist! I've enjoyed looking at your art and will continue to study it as I search for my own style. Tammy |

congratulations! (I hope it's spelt right.. am too lazy to check right now) This is great Elly! but isn't it too small a canvas here?
Miss_DJ (Nov 26, 2012)
NICE!!!
elly (Nov 13, 2021)
Shults, I'm a little behind in answering your question but No! It was not too small to look awesome on the book cover!

when I was 12 I did my first paintings, with oils (yikes). I watched some tutorials and the first was a lovely mountain landscape with happy little trees and a stream. i was quite proud until my neighbors daughter got into my room while it was still drying and smeared her dirty 2 year old fingers all over it. i really want to do that to this painting! not to mess it up like that devil-baby but because you achieve such a viscous quality with pixels so well i want to touch.
