Love the shoulder position. That hand is pure Art Nouveau elegant.
lori (Jan 20, 2013)

dorothyblueeyes (Jan 21, 2013)
Wow, so beautiful, I can't paint like, anything like, that anymore ; l never really translated well from real paint "to software. and if you get outta practice that's bad Too. I love this, keep going! :)

I see here a display of denial.. her face seems calm, she's closing her eyes and turning her back on the turmoil behind, even though it reached her, and the fire has already got to her hair (great touch btw roy).
and although it's repressed, her anxiety is clearly shown through the solid strokes, even the flames are calmer than her. It's actually a little bothering piece, with everything that is going on..

Referenced loosely from this portrait by modernist A. B. Carles painted in 1922.

This is stunning! Very beautiful!!
Teapot (Jun 6, 2013)
Thank you, Mad. Lori, I never answered your comment about the FX/textures. Chibi has really limited texture options so I used one of them and I also used the watercolour brush on a space/scatter setting that makes a broken line. When you combine that with varied pressure from thick to thin in a constant line you can get some beautiful results. It kind of reminds me of sumi ink. Where I like it in this painting is the gold line on her sleeve and the lace front of the dress.

"Where does your responsibility begin here? Wiping away the nebula from your sight, you struggle to find where you really are. You're trying to find the direction of the flow, struggling to hold on to the axis of time. But you can't locate the borderline separating dream and reality. Or even the boundary between what's real and what's possible. All you're sure of is that you're in a delicate position. Delicate - and dangerous. You're pulled along, a part of it, unable to pin down the principles of prophecy, or of logic. Like when a river overflows, washing over a town, all road signs have sunk beneath the waves. And all you can see are the anonymous roofs of the sunken houses."

I absolutely love this. It seems like you have knowledge (with no better way to describe it) of the exact amount of detail your piece needs to keep the observer (aka me) interested, the exact amount of gentlenss/sharpness contrast to make it easy on the eyes while again interesting, the exact amount of imagination to reach my own, stir it a little, and leave me clueless and yet satisfied.

or in other words, you're ok.. ;)
davincipoppalag (Dec 20, 2012)
another fine piece of work Hiro

you didn't answer my question Roy... are you going to tell me how you made that beautiful smear/blend?

damn great evolution
Teapot (Dec 17, 2012)
Your use of colour slays me. Yellow green apricot robin's egg blue skin...but it works when contrasted with the brick reds, somehow. If I tried that it would look like dog sick.

Beautiful, downcast eyes.
