What else can I do
when the tears have all been wasted?
And the only voice you choose to hear
Sings the songs of our hearts breaking

Say your dreams, they all have changed
Well, my smiles, they all have faded
And the thoughts that used to seem so pure in my heart,
they now feel jaded

Because I wanna feel like I did
And I wanna feel innocence

What else can it be
except this pride, I'm sick of drinking
Storm clouds all have gone away
Can we stop this thing from sinking?

Because I wanna feel like I did
And I wanna feel innocence

And I want you to know,
and to feel in your soul,
that someone has come and gone

I'm stuck up here with you
I never thought we'd get this high
I used to be afraid of falling
Now I'll spread my wings and I will fly

I wanna feel like I did
And I wanna feel innocence
I wanna feel like I did
Oh, I wanna feel innocence, oh. I...

Hootie and the Blowfish

Oh, I'm liking this. Just going out on a limb there, is it you in the pic? It looks so relaxed and sweet.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 10, 2007)
Dave, it's 1968. Thank you, and yes, it is, with my Daddy.
Hagaren (Feb 10, 2007)
I really like this. Lots of details. Off to a great start!

Axil62 (Feb 10, 2007)
I didn't know Texans wore loafers.
Cameo (Feb 10, 2007)
Maybe they did in the 60's!! Love this, DBA! And you were really cute when you were little!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Feb 10, 2007)
Shhh.... Most Texans probably don't... but my Daddy was too cool...(He still is, but I haven't seen him in anything but boots for decades)
Deino (Feb 10, 2007)
This is going to be amazing, like all your stuff deadly!
Sweetcell (Feb 10, 2007)
I hope you don't get the art funk so you can finish this. I can already see it's going to be lovely. You look so sweet clapping your hands.
HunterKiller_ (Feb 10, 2007)

All of you were so kind in your comments, and so encouraging. Maybe I'll be able to finish this one and be happy with it.

I still just spend so much time piddling and wander off, here.

It's hard for me to do anything besides completely realistic realism... I'm forcing myself, here.

Who am I kidding, I'm forcing myself to paint anything at all. I have a terrible artist funk... it's the funkiest FUNK I've ever had, and I can't shake it.
Miss_DJ (Feb 13, 2007)
this is a wonderful picture of a very happy lil Cindy! so glad you're bringing it to us here!!

After I first sketched this out, I noticed that I had the subjects too large for the proportion of the background, and instead of fixing it, I just blew it off. Now it's bugging me because it's throwing me off on the proportions of everything, but I think I'm determined to keep messing with it till I like it.

My stylus nib is worn down to almost nothing, it's making this almost impossible. Guess I'm gonna have to get some new ones.

I am so thankful for my Daddy. There are tons of photos in our family albums like this... of him with me and my brothers, and we're always laughing and having fun. In some of them he's just laying on the floor letting us crawl all over him, but no matter what we were doing, we were happy. He worked long, hard hours just to feed us, but he always managed to make time to play with us. I still see him like this. He's getting old and his hair is gray and he's got wrinkles, but when we are together and we're doing something fun, his eyes still sparkle and his laugh still sounds the same. My brothers and I are really lucky people. I wonder if he knows how much he has given us.
davincipoppalag (Mar 5, 2007)
You should show this to him.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 6, 2007)
He hasn't ever seen any of my digital art. My parents have a computer, but they don't have the internet, and when I go over there, he drags me out into the pasture to check on the cows, or to show me what he did to the tractor, or to shoot the latest gun he acquired, but I don't mind. :)
davincipoppalag (Mar 5, 2007)
doesnt he ever come to your house..you could show him there
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 5, 2007)
Not very often, and not lately. My brothers and I usually gather out at the ranch. I have most of my art on discs, I could take it and show it to him (he's asked about it numerous times)... we're all just usually so busy with other stuff that we forget about it when we get there.
davincipoppalag (Mar 5, 2007)
Well..next time you go there..you sit down and show him...might not be a tomorrow...yanno?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 6, 2007)
I will..., I tell him everytime I see him or talk to him how I feel, so he knows I appreciate the wonderful father he is and that I love him. Same thing with my brothers, we talk often and never end a conversation without saying "I love you".
davincipoppalag (Mar 5, 2007)
Well..I'm glad you started doing that....
JillJJ (Mar 5, 2007)
Cindy, This is so filled with love! Please make sure that your Dad sees this, it is a statement of your love for him! Great art!

wow Cindy, all the hours really paid off, highly impressive
Pantera (Mar 6, 2007)
You are one very lucky girl, I never knew my father, I only have 2 photos of him :( I think I have the worse family in the world, but enough about me. I love this drawing and I do hope your father sees it, I wish I was part of your family :)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 6, 2007)
Lori, I didn't work on it that long. The loading time for revision and the submission time are inclusive in the duration, on my dial up it takes forever - which is also the reason I leave some of my work sitting here while I piddle around or to do other little things - to avoid the hassle of submitting and loading again. It's kind of a double-edged sword as far as the clock goes. Explaining it gets really annoying (on both sides), so I don't bother to mention it anymore.

Pantera, that's really sad. I get really aggravated with my family sometimes, but I guess this is probably as good as it gets. I always wanted a sister... no one has volunteered yet, I guess we could adopt each other as sisters. :)

This reminds me of when I go through my grandmothers photos. Which is definitly a great thing. Wonderful capture DBA!

something about the guy's face makes him look too young.
JK-Arts (Jun 19, 2007)
This looks very awsome and beautiful.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 19, 2007)
Thank you. :) You know, all these years my Daddy had never seen any of my digital art, and he came over recently, this was one of the things I showed him. He never once said anything about the "art" or if I "did okay"... He smiled at this and said... I remember that... and you were always the prettiest, happiest little girl. Then he kept smiling. I guess that means I did okay, here, I'm still not sure. :)
davincipoppalag (Jun 20, 2007)
You drew one of his happy memories...you did great
