Well, the reason E.T. boy dosen't look smug here is because he was very nervous about crossing the Delaware. He was never too keen on the idea. He knew that if he fell in he would have been immediately eaten by the now extinct Delawarean Paranas. And once he heard that General Washington had stolen his idea and made the cross earlier that morning, he started to question whether or not his crossing would be at all effective.

I might come back and revise this later, but for right now, I'm tired, my carpal tunnel's acting up, and I need to eat sometime soon.
