cmb (Nov 28, 2006)
I think its great so far! It almost looks like a surreal peice by dali......
djramz99 (Nov 28, 2006)
I think you should finish too! This is one of a few masterpieces I have actually seen the original in a museum. I love it!
Sweetcell (edited Nov 29, 2006)
Thanks all, of course I'll be finishing it.
frootcake (Nov 28, 2006)
may i ask where you saw the original? luckily for me i live in europe and have seen many of the finest masterpieces
djramz99 (Nov 28, 2006)
About 9 or 10 years ago they had a special Monet exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. It was pretty cool to see so many Monet's in one place. Of course the Art Institute is probably most famous for the Georges Seurat painting "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte". Very awesome to see that up close as well.

Changed it.

Is Latrec considered a master? That other one was driving me batty and I always had an easier time doing illustrations than painting painting. Not that I can't. :)

So, here is my new entry, better entry, Talouse Latrec.

I've always thought your talent is amazing and this just proves it! Your ability to adapt to many styles and mediums is a talent that is enviable. I loved your v. 1 and your v. 2 is also a definite reflection of your skills. Most of the time when I see a picture that you have done I am either catching my breath or picking my jaw up off the floor and then my next question is how in the ........... does she do this over and over again. Fantastic!!
cmb (Nov 29, 2006)
Lautrec was definitley masterly! go for it!
Kieru (Nov 29, 2006)
Both are excellent...you have amazing skills. It's so great! Lautrec is a master indeed ^^

Little bit more done. Inking after the fact is harder.
Deino (edited Dec 4, 2006)
Very nicely done, your talent is amazing. The Monet was coming along great also.
frootcake (Dec 6, 2006)
this is so refreshing after all that mannerist realism

DONE! I tried to make it look old like the poster by adding creases and mimiking the faded colors, hope you can see. Done in time for the contest and one out of my studio.

Thanks for all the space and putting up with my nagging Maiko. :)

EEPS. The grey on the left was supposed tobe the background color. Oh well.
Miss_DJ (Dec 8, 2006)
very good entry Sweetcell! you've got lotsa patience...!!
davincipoppalag (Dec 8, 2006)
Great entry Barb!!! This is the best contest yet... I can't believe what people are doing.
frootcake (Dec 8, 2006)
i like this, i really do. My girlfriend is currently living in Lyon (france) so when i go to visit, there are giant posters like this in most tiny independent record stores. Le Chat Noir, moulin rouge etc.. this really takes me back there. nice ;)
solve (Dec 8, 2006)
Art Nouveau is on of my most favorite genres! So I love you for doing this, and with great skill as well!
Alter.Native (Dec 9, 2006)
I really like that 'faded color' touch. You did a fantastic job reproducing his design.
Pseudonymous (Dec 10, 2006)
Incredible work, Barb. Seriously.
Sweetcell (Dec 10, 2006)
Thank you all wonderful people very much. :)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Dec 16, 2006)
I'm just now going through and checking out all the finished entries... I think this was a neat choice for something to do... I'm not familiar with it, so I learned something by viewing it and you did a wonderful job on it.

I started something for this one and never even got close to finishing it... my butt has been parked in the woods alot, lately, and when I'm here I just piddle piddle piddle :).
Sweetcell (Dec 17, 2006)
Thank you so much Cindy. I want to go back and fix that grey area.
