I'm tempted to delete your comment, Derrick, I don't much care for it. Of course, I won't delete it, that would be wrong. Although I am the moderator of this board, I don't intend to ever act like one. ;)
I imagine that is an honest comment you made but when you comment, I would hope you use a little more, let's call it, polite discretion. As well, I don't appreciate being told I look like a retarded serial killer, you should have said I look like a mentally-challenged, repeat offender. Sheesh.
Congratulations Cloxboy! "Wanna soda?" is awarded first place for Contest Week 21: Self-Portraits. Your self-portrait is very expressive and emotive. Your color choices, choice of expression, and unique style combined with your portraiture skills add up to a winning entry. Your picture makes us think: why would you choose that expression? Is it introspective, or is it meant as a kind of catharsis, or is it simply capturing the feeling of a moment? Whereas generic portraits often display placid or blank expressions and thus can seem impersonal, the intense expression of emotion makes your picture very personal and, in a way, courageous.
I would like to thank Coca-Cola, thanks for all your support during the contest, the months of training have paid off. I really don't know if I could have done it with out you.
But seriously. ;) Thanks, I really appreciate it. My face actually helped me win something, I imagine Satan is wearing his winter clothes right now.
You really think he IS? Wearing his winter clothes, I mean.... because I have been told sooo many times "it'll be a cold day in Hell before..." and I have just been waiting for this day!!!! ;)
....(if he is, it would be, of course, a hot pink sweater vest with a black diamond pattern, a mint green shirt with coordinating plaid cuff pants, all compliments of the Ralph Lauren golf collection - *barf*) ...
This is probably the most original expression I have ever seen in a self portrait, anywhere, and it certainly deserved to win - not just for that reason, but all the stuff that Zack said (whew, I'm glad he said it so well, I don't have to try).
The question is, does the expression represent juno? D:
Is he an angry old man, or is this just an expression he chose for this particular drawing? In which case, can we call it a self portrait? Or perhaps he does not have an expression he can call his own, perhaps he has many faces/many hats, and this is simply demonstrating that there is no theme, no one cloxboy, but you just need to be caught in the moment to figure it out!
yeah, that animation was entertaining.. it's wild how you go about painting your portraits, really shows how talented you are. I kept thinking it was over, but nope! it kept going :) great work here
You know what? My friend, Joe, that told me about this site, introduced me to it by showing me your stuff! What a small, little, tiny yet adorable world. Thank you.

but this is very cool, I love the colours and the painterly skin texturey thing you've got going on.
Excellent choice Zack.
