Cianteed (Dec 22, 2004)
True. It's easy to warm up to... (for me it was)...

Ok, here's something to think about. What constitutes good art? To me, this clean, simple picture is far better than many of the blurry messes that people post when they are trying to do too much. It's obviously not going to be in the showcase, it might even get deleted (I hope not, if this user Agoylis finishes it up and adds some color), but I don't think theres anything wrong with it yet, especially as an unfinished picture. You blurry drawers (who blur becasue you are trying to disguise what you think is not good enough) might say, "well, this is easy to do! I could do that with my eyes closed." Then why don't you? While I don't discourage experimental techniques like blurring becasue I think it has benefits too, I do have to say that I don't like to look at it.

Too many of you are quick to cast stones at a new artist, but lets get that beam out of your eye. There are many great artists on this site, and many many more out there in the real world. No matter how good you are, someone is better than you somewhere. A lot of the people here (not on this picture exclusively, but on 2draw) that are quick to criticize a simple drawing are surpassed in ability by almost every member of this site. I don't see Icats, Zep, DBA, Cloxboy, or even Axil coming in here to make fun of this.

I'm not trying to single out anyone above. It just seemed like a good picture to make that comment on, becasue I see it happening on decent pictures that meet board standards, while puffy, blurry blobs get praise (albiet meaningless) from other puffy, blurry blob makers.

yea, I didn't delete this one because it actually has some noticable effort put into it. the lines and form are rather clean. even if it's not perfectly rendered, it's an abstraction, a style that has a life of its own.
still though, it needs more work from here. it could be interesting with vector/block-color style shading, or even completely in b&w outline with an intricate background or halftone shading. in any case, it has a lot more potential than most of the crappy kirby drawings being posted lately.

joe, i think you have a thing for dragons. nice to see that others are sticking up for you and believe you have potential. all you have to do now is prove to them that you do. i hope that you continue to try on your drawings.. eventually you'll get a hang of it. have fun!
Agoylis (Dec 23, 2004)

StrawberryYamichan (Dec 24, 2004)
I agree DinoFlorist and yay for Marcello not deleting it. I liked this picture, thats why I just said he might not be used to computer drawing's instead of saying something long to argue...^^;
