davincipoppalag (Oct 20, 2004)
YW! I wanted this one to come out well for ya!
Gigandas (Oct 20, 2004)
Heh, I think it's amazing how you have the patience to do all these planes.I guess that's why you also never see me draw them^^;.I'm liking the greyscale and that historic feeling you put into this one.Sorry about your loss, emma :(...
Zack (Oct 20, 2004)
Hey, that's really cool Dave. I like how it's not exactly grey, but slightly tan like an old photograph. Nice details. You should check out Square I, a Flash animation studio that has a clever WW2-themed website.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Oct 20, 2004)
It really does have a sort of gray yet sepia-tone to it, like a slightly yellowed b&w photograph. You did a great job on it... I showed my husband and he loves it, too. :)
davincipoppalag (Oct 20, 2004)
Thanks.. I used the greyscale in the light brown pallette.
emmamommalag (Oct 20, 2004)
And it DID come out well. I know Dad would have loved it. Thank you again. And thank you, Gigandas, for your kind words.
Xodiak (Oct 21, 2004)
Very beautiful drawing Mr. Dave... I like the vintage feeling in the drawing. It must have been exciting as well as dangerous to battle in the skies... I had a friend in school who was absolutely obsessed with WWII. He always drew planes, arms, tanks and all kind of WWII related weaponry. His favourite were the planes.
You drew the planes great, flying high above the ground. I like how you drew the propellers which can be barely seen because of their fast spinning. I like the brownish grey pallette of the drawing, too. It fits so great.
I wish your father's soul rests in peace, Emma.

I really like this one davinci, it's one of my favorites. A great tribute to Emma's dad too. Whenever I meet a war veteran I always tell him thank you.

NIKNIKKNUTZEN (Dec 4, 2004)
This is a really good picture. It has some really nice detail in it. the planes look cool.
DarkCloak (Dec 6, 2004)
Nice drawing! My gradfather was a navigator in a B-17. Flew over 60 missions, and only missed 1 because he came down with the flu. His commanding officer didn't want him on the plane, told him to stay on the ground. So he stayed on the ground and watched his buddies take off with the rest of the squadron. His plane never returned. The entire flight crew was MIA. Strangely, his plane was the only plane that didn't make it back. Kinda freaky, eh?
davincipoppalag (Dec 6, 2004)
Sure is! Wow.. you hear stuff like that.. and its amazing. Wife's dad was bombardier in B24s.. he was on the Roumanian oil refinery raids ( I have a pic of that too in here)..
