This is very pretty and peaceful looking. I think it might could have used a little more definition between the land in the foreground and the main body of water, though. You did an especially nice job of making some of the branches appear to grow towards us. I'm usually too lazy to do that.
mangaflip (Jun 12, 2004)
i like water effect !
its a good paint !
emmamommalag (Jun 12, 2004)
Thanks for the tip, Dead. Actually there was hardly any definition at all between the two in the reference photo but if I can get back in later to revise, I'll see what I can do about that.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 12, 2004)
Yeah, sometimes good realism requires deviating from actual reality. Go figure. It's still beautiful, so I wouldn't worry too much if it won't let you back in... I just think that would make it better.
misterjimsan (Jun 12, 2004)
beautiful landscape, i wish i had scenery like this instead of endless seas of cornfields and flat land
emmamommalag (Jun 12, 2004)
Let's see, mister.. you must be in Indiana or Illinois. For several years, we lived surrounded on all four sides by cornfields and flat land. It's not that bad... makes the pretty places all the more appreciated. Glad you like the picture. :)
Aubrey (Jun 12, 2004)
I've lived surrounded my cornfields and woods and creeks and even a river my entire life. I think they're all beautiful. There's always an escape from reality when it takes 2 minutes to walk to the woods lol Very pretty picture Momma. :)
davincipoppalag (Jun 12, 2004)
It's truly a beauty momma! (translation" Och! Et's a luvvly wee pecktchure o'the Loch Lass!") Gorgeous..yep..Aubs is right.. I've seen most all of the US and most of Canada.. and no matter where you are..there's beauty to see if you look closely enough (example.. take a look at what DBA did to an ole "horsehead" oil pump)
thesolarwinds (Jun 12, 2004)
this is beautiful, it almost leaves me speechless. its so good, and so pretty. good job! :)
laurael (Jun 12, 2004)
Love the colors in this one...and the rocks are great! You don't do a lot of pics either...but when you finally do one...it was worth waiting for...
SuzieSuze (Jun 12, 2004)
wow this is so pretty, you are very talented, I have trouble with trees, but you do them very nicely!
thug (Jun 12, 2004)
Awesome piece, it looks like it's done in oil on canvas. I especially like the water.
emmamommalag (Jun 12, 2004)
Thank you everybody.. I'm so glad you like it. Yes, aubsy and poppasweetie are right.. you can find beauty anywhere, mister. I do miss the hills of my childhood but cornfields, themselves, are not exactly ugly. And when I lived surrounded by them, one of my favorite things to see was the dew on the grass early in the morning.. just after sunrise, the lawn would seem to be covered with thousands of sparkling jewels of every color. And the bluebirds! Mister, there is something beautiful everywhere you look. :)
Knockoff (Jun 13, 2004)
Wow mamma, this is really really cool. I really like the tree and the water n rocks surrounding it.
The sky is also very nicely done. Great picture.
Thear (Jun 13, 2004)
well i like it too momma ^^ i like that sky most =P
Pantera (Jun 13, 2004)
This is very beautiful, you did a great job :)
Gigge (Jun 13, 2004)
How serene, a lonely little tree in a beautiful setting. The reflection in the front pool is great and the mountains remind me of the Blue Ridge.
LovelyLori (Jun 15, 2004)
this is so beautiful Emma, sorry I haven't commented, I keep coming back to this though... love the colors, the style, that tree especially... but wonderful job on all of it!
Supergurl103 (Jun 18, 2004)
nice, emma, so pretty, love it so much ;) just love it :) tree is always a good thing to draw :)
Cordelia_Pink (Jun 22, 2004)
Wow, that's really good. It seems so realistic. I really like the effects on the rocks nearby the puddle. And the reflection of the tree on the water is very well done too. Overall it's pretty good. Good job.
emmamommalag (Jun 22, 2004)
Thank you all. Yes, Super.. trees are good to draw.. and to look at. I love trees, although I've never hugged one. Well, actually.. I probably have!
Anna (Jun 24, 2004)
I really like this, momma. I love darker days.. :) So this one is right up my alley. Excellent job on it
Bumble_Beez (Jul 2, 2004)
