Texas longhorn cattle at sunset. We usually don't eat these...we butcher the black angus instead... they taste better, anyway. I think we keep them at our ranch mainly because my mother thinks they look pretty in the pasture and my nieces like to feed them range cubes.

i smell showcase, it reeks of it

Very good stuff, excellent job on the silhouettes. Just bugs me that the cattle silhouettes aren't completely solid black... guess I have my contrast turned up too high.
Knockoff (May 23, 2004)
This is so cool dba! YOu have the softest coloring! I love the colors too. Awesome tree and weeds!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 23, 2004)
Zack: I never do anything in complete solid black, because black reflects no light at all and will have no dimension, but there shouldn't be any great variation in the colors or background showing through - that would be your contrast.
xwindflyer (May 23, 2004)
You tellem DBA, mess with the bull, ya get the horn. :o)
Zack (May 23, 2004)
Yeah, it looks better with the contrast down a notch. I understand what you mean about black... I've been told that before by a few people, about true black being something to avoid, but I never remember anything so people keep telling me. :P The reason I said that, really, is because it gave me the impression of simply having not gone over it enough while shading... it doesn't bother me much when I keep looking at it. A stylistic disagreement, perhaps. But there is a light spot in the bottom right corner. X)

Besides...she wouldnt steer ya wrong Zack.....
emmamommalag (May 23, 2004)
Excellent! I love this.. it's your best ever!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 23, 2004)
Lol Zack...I see what you mean about the bottom right corner of the canvas.... that happens sometimes in the applet that the farthest corners and edges I don't get completely, and for some reason I can't see it in there... it's not visible till I post. I don't know if the "no true black" rule applies on the computer, because it has it's own light source... one of the reasons some of the amazing stuff we can do is possible here... I know it's partly true here, but definitely on canvas a no-no (I mean like the black you can buy in a tube of oil paint... should mix your own because black is the absence of all color and does not reflect any light at all)
