DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 19, 2004)
Sundial/tombstone of a girl named Alwyn who died at age 3 in November of 1938
The inscription reads "Turn youre face to the sun, and the shaddowes will fall behind you."

I know this is a strange subject for a piece of art, but something about this was so appealing to me... I found it sad, beautiful, and a little bit eerie at the same time. The way it was all covered with moss, the beautiful blue stone that was carved so carefully, and the strange way things were spelled... I don't know.. it made me wonder about the little girl, and I just liked it alot.

This is a little more difficult than I expected. Guess that line tool takes up alotta space.

I wanted to put in the grave marker, but it just didn't look right, and wasn't actually right next to the sundial anyway.

this is great dba, I think I'd be intrigued with this in front of me also... where'd you come across it? there are some real awesome lookin' sundials out there, was looking at them not too long ago on ebay... nice pic
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 20, 2004)
It's from a photograph taken in an old rundown unkept cemetery. I thought it was the most beautiful grave marker I had ever seen, and I love the sun.. I've always wanted a sundial.

you should get one then... check out ebay if you're into that kinda thing... and I've been wanting to tell you, shortly after you did your pic of the shell with the pearl in it... then you did my pic for me... I saw this shell 'light' thing in a catalog... been wantin' to get it for ya and send to to ya as a thank you, it's so pretty, the pearl inside the shell is what lights up, frosted glass, very dimly lit, so pretty! :)

Aww that's so sweet of you to think of me, (and it's the thought that counts!) but I enjoyed doing it. :) You don't need to do anything at all.

Good one DBA..I like the rendering of the stone base to this. We have a number of very old cemetaries here with all kinds of odd inscriptions. They are very cool. I have one of those shell lights.. it's like a clamshell with a frosted pearl in side and there is a light that changes colors softly inside the pearl. It's a cool night light.

This is really cool. I love to tramp around in old cemeteries.. interesting reading there.

this is wonderful, I like old grave markers too. Some of them give you the creeps. One night back in the 80's my friends and I played frizbee golf in a cemetary at night with glow in the dark Frizbes. that was a bit creepy too

My sister and I used to go to this really old, small cemetery, way on top of this hill down the road from where we lived, to read the grave markers (it was a spooky feeling being the only ones around and seemed to draw us in every time). One day, we stumbled upon this grave marker for a baby and I remember feeling so sad reading the words on it. It was awhile ago though, I can't remember them, but this reminds me of that...
edit, again...I got so caught up in the story that I forgot to tell you what a great job you did with the picture! Great job!
