Can I be honest? I'm not too fond of the texture over all....not sure how anyone else sees it in their eyes but to me, its a little too much, distracting. (Firecracker has heard me say that before, haven't ya? ;) Maybe if it was softened somewhat???? The draw looks GREAT! I love the pose =) In version 2, at least on my laptop screen, it looks like his mouth is covered up by smoke he's blowing out..lol!!! Great work tho! A natural gift and I love seeing you develope!
Honestly, I'm not too fond of the textures either. lol. I agree that it is distracting, and I'm not really happy with how this turned out at all. I'm going to redo it. I just didn't want to delete this, so instead I put textures over it in hopes that it would somehow look better after the 4th version. I really should start using layers or something, because it seems the more I work on some things, the worse they get. Not always, but often. Thank you for your input though, I really appreciate it. =)

I kinda like it with the textured filter. And I love the portrait. You are being WAAAAAY too hard on yourself. It's beautiful. Definitely use a separate layer if you're going to play with filters/texture, though.
