Lol, everyone's doing this girl. ;)
firecracker (Feb 11, 2010)
This poor girl....she doesn't look very happy.....makes me think of a movie where Jody Foster gets "gangbanged" by a bunch of stupid guys......I can't remember the name of the movie though......it's a good draw though.,...but I don't understand what the "point" of this draw is. I kinda feel sorry for the girl.....:(

Roytje are you working in watercolours at all? I've seen some of the paintings you've posted on DA but I think they were all oils or acrylics. I would love to buy one of your paintings if you do watercolours. Though I think all your work is beautiful, these impressionistic waterscapes seem to me the finest examples of your artistic expression. They are, indeed, magical. I love the combination of colours with your calligraphic line work.
Roytje (Mar 12, 2010)
Most of the time I work with acrylics, indeed. I did some watercolor paintings a couple of weeks ago at classes. I haven't drew something with it at home. The class results were funny, I didn't know what would happen. Here and here.

I love the finished results, great painting

I'm glad you're trying watercolour because I think the medium would lend itself to your style. If you can find it, there is a book by a woman I think you would really like. It's called 'How to Make a Watercolor Paint Itself' by Nita Engle. Thanks for sharing your class paintings. It takes awhile to work out all the properties of the different pigments--transparent, opaque, staining, etc. Then you have to play with working wet in wet, wet on dry, dry on dry, and refine your lost and found edge technique. It's hard and frustrating but also the most fun and magical when it works, IMO.

Something like this, Teapot? :)
Teapot (May 8, 2010)
Mmmm! Nice interplay of the warm and cool colours together! I got the sense of a forest fire. I am liking how you keep the movement and looseness with your paints. Though I can admire the control achieved, I don't find myself liking watercolours that get too 'tight', too detailed. This painting has a nice balance of a little detail with a lot of impression.
