because I'm the greatest man that ever lived.
Aakyra (Dec 17, 2008)
I agree Axil, you are the greatest! Excellent, excellent, excellent! (Claps hands!)

I at first thought it was a pc. of meat, but then realized it is a grapefruit and done very well. Love the way you've done the skin on it. Your coloring is excellent, lovely work.
mursku (Feb 9, 2010)
hehe, on one hand its awesome how realistic you have managed to make the grapefruit, but on the other hand it makes me sick how the glistening pieces of the fruit look... urgh..anyways, two thumbs up for the awesome display of skill

thanks so much everyone! :) and mursku, after you pointed it out, I can see how that sudden contrast from blurred to sharp doesn't look right .. I'll have to deviate from the reference a bit and try to fix that.. thanks for the tips .. much appreciated :) now let's hope I can pull it off without guidance from the ref and make it look better. flubbles, you're just hardcore :P but I'm glad to know you were only trying to "encourage me" next time maybe give me some tips where I went wrong, like mursku did :) hope this looks a little better.. I played around with the background too much and messed that up worse than it was :|

dramatic. :) I agree with flubbles in that it definitely would have more impact on a bigger canvas, but it's still wonderful work.
firecracker (Feb 8, 2010)
very nice.....those clouds are awesome! :)
mursku (Feb 8, 2010)
thanks guys. i was just aiming to do quick 20-30 min landscape studies, so if i had had managed to draw this in under 30 minutes it wouldn't have been allowed on the other boards

just wanted to draw something better for my avatar... My plan was to draw some beastman (from warhammer tabletop game) but even thought i had reference they all turned out horrible. none of the drawings were menacing enough! damn :( so i tried to draw an orc instead.. but they too turned out crappy. double damn! :P so i ended up drawing something simple in the end. ~30 min. edit: aaah! it doesn't look as good in the small scale as i imagined it would look. The hair strands that fall in front of the face make the face look a bit funky when its reduced to the size of 48x48 or 24x24 pixels :( its still a bit better than the last one, but i gotta make a new avatar someday soon :S
mursku (Feb 8, 2010)
thanks guys. :DRat - you can actually see the blood in the small picture?! you must have a bigger screen than me or a smaller resolution cause when its reduced to 48x48 pixels, i can only barely see some red on his chin :( firecracker - um no, hes no vampire, but if hes anything hes a male version of this character from this epic fantasy comic thats been plaguing my mind now for years to draw, but i've been too daunted (or lazy) to start a webcomic that looks like it would take a few hundred pages to finish.. and i would first have to learn how to draw environments. and clothes, im horrible at drawing clothes. the rest im sure i could fake.. but someday, i will do it!
davincipoppalag (Feb 8, 2010)
Creepy eyes.. nice
firecracker (Feb 8, 2010)
Well I hope you do that epic comic fantasy someday.......he would make a great character in a comic.....he's really cool looking......:)
TheCrusader (Aug 7, 2010)
Perhaps if his eyes were more lavender, he could be Drizzt from the R.A. Salvatore bookd. |

Cameo (Feb 6, 2010)
Nothing better than a pistol packin' mama! Nice draw! ;o)
backmagicwoman (Feb 6, 2010)
Looks like a cool comic character.
firecracker (Feb 7, 2010)
I agree.....she would make a cool comic book character.....:)
TumblingUpwards (Feb 7, 2010)
Excellent character drawing, she's a beauty with more than a little heat. |

...what is this?! How dear are you draw like this?! O.O amazing!
Flubbles (Dec 23, 2009)
I'm trying to step away from being so tedious now, although i think i got this done pretty quick considering.
Miss_DJ (Dec 23, 2009)
this is clearly refreshing!!
mursku (Feb 6, 2010)
whoah! that looks amazing, its almost photorealistic, the only thing that looks a bit iffy to me are the shadows on the table/ground. Actually this looks like a great picture to do a study off... except im way too lazy attempt such a thing. Maybe someday :P |

Here i go... What i would like to see is some more depth separating the objects. Especially the upper part of the trees from the background. Now they look pretty flat, but if you maybe darkened the street at the upper area of the image the trees would pop out a bit more. Or you could use a sharper brush to paint the leafs around the upper edges of the trees. Or you could instead add some more details at the street at the upper part of the image.
Also i think the street would look a bit more like it was raining if you added some small bright dots here and there on the street, but don't over do it, just a few bright spots.
