You oughta frame this suntan, and hang it on your wall......it's beautiful......:)
Suntan (edited Feb 19, 2010)
Maybe I'll try that, fc. thank you, again. :)

Futon frolic.
I tried refining the hatch shading a bit. Probably won't do much more with this. It was an exercise in trying to remember how to draw after not doing anything for a long time. I'm sure I shouldn't try a complicated pose without a ref--lotsa stuff off. Feels weird when you can't even manage to get your tablet angled correctly to draw diagonal lines. My drawing hand is retarded. At least I'm hoping it's my hand and not my brain. :-O

hi madscientist :)
i looked through your drawings and i think they would look much better if the colors influenced each other more. What i mean is that in this pic, the blue sky should make the ground and the greenery a bit more blue. An easy way to do that (but not necessarily the correct way), is to choose the sky color and paint with low opacity over the ground color, now take that new ground color and with your normal opacity use it to paint the ground. and as you paint things farther away in the distance, you should use more sky color to influence them..
Also in your fruit picture the colors should influence each other a bit. For example some red light should bounce from the red fruits to the table cloth and to the yellow fruit.. and so should some yellow light, bounce from the yellow fruit to objects nearest to it...

Hi, Mursku! Thank you for the tips. I will try to keep them in mind when I do future pics! They're a lot of awesome artists on this site! A lot of them paint like the old masters!:)) I am going to check out some of your work! Thanks!
Axil62 (Feb 16, 2010)
Please don't insult the old masters like that.
Flubbles (edited Feb 16, 2010)
If i painted like the old masters i wouldn't be pissing my time away here, i'd be painting some half naked chick in my living room.

I went on a date with my girlfriend today. I did my hair and everything. I felt very pretty. :]

This is my first time drawing on Oekaki for a long, long time. I'm pretty rusty. 8| Getting the hang of it, though. I missed it. @ x@

hmm.. i'll mark this as finished, even this really isn't. I just got bored with this and want to draw something more interesting :P
enjoydotcom (Feb 16, 2010)
You sweet people don't know Hercule Poirot? The famous Belgian detective from the Agatha Christie books? I devoured those books when I was still in school and still enjoy them. Must say he looks more tan than the actor who has played this character most. Good job none the less :D.
mursku (edited Feb 16, 2010)
thanks :)
heh, i was having trouble with painting the head. it never looked right (the actor has this really strange looking face!)..
..so in the end i just gave up trying to make him look like the actor :(
Teapot (Feb 16, 2010)
...but it does look like David Suchet. I spotted it from the thumb! I can't stand Agatha Christie's writing but for some reason the Brits are always able to make her work seem much more interesting and well written in their dramatizations of it. Joan Hicks made Miss Marple into a great character the same as Suchet has done with Poirot. Peter Ustinov and Albert Finney were also really good Poirots, IMHO.

this is really good, both the original photo and your interpretation of it.

I agree, it's a good draw.

The original's quite dull, actually. I like your version better.
