Her head should actually be much larger towards the top; the way the hair is parted, it makes it look like she has a very small cranial area. The eyes are also spaced too much (there is about an eye's length between the eyes). The ear is also too low; it should actually be about level with the eyes. The neck is also a bit long, and makes the shoulders look a bit flat. It's a good attempt, though.
davincipoppalag (Sep 11, 2004)
She's from a place where there was a lot of inbreeding Goat... Her father/uncle/brother and her Sister/mother/aunt think she's quite beautiful as she is.
concannon (edited Sep 12, 2004)
Okay, wow. -__- Goatlord, sweetie, when I attempt realism, you'll know it. This was not a realism attempt. See the lineart? That means there's still a vague cartoony aspect too it. And yeah, I realize all those things; in addition, her shoulders are actually too small for her head size, or her head is actually too big for her shoulder size.

Either way, it's art, and I can draw any way I damn well please. [PS]: I realize that most of that was probably constructive criticism, but it seems a little high and mighty too. I didn't mean to snap if you meant well.
Goatlord (Sep 12, 2004)
Eh, it's cool. I know it's intended to be cartoony, but it was just lacking proportion, really. All young artists start out that way, I know I did.

This had been sitting in my studio for an obscenely long time, and I just needed to finish it. -___- I know it could stand more details...maybe I'll go back in later. Depends on what everyone says. Right now, I'm far too lazy.

Ah nice birdy VV!, They're a pain to do with all the details it requires.. keep working on it!
Sumomo_chan (Sep 3, 2004)
awesome! Betcha you don't know me, but i'm your sister's friend, sumomo. You commented on one of my drawings....O_o
concannon (Sep 3, 2004)
Oh, I know who you are. *eyes* Apparently you're the one that came up with the idea for "saki" as the name of your band with Katie and Maerna that may never happen.
Dragnakita (edited Sep 12, 2004)
xD The birdy is awesome. But, there are no clouds... ha ha ha...

wow, great job on that skin... how does everyone do that so well??
Zack (Jul 6, 2004)
that's one bigass kazoo, Dave. nice job VV, the stylized BG works well.
davincipoppalag (Jul 6, 2004)
Silly Zack..that's not the kazoo..thats the steel bar she whacks the music critics with if they complain about the kazoo music..shes playing the kazoo in the pic!
Linwe_lover_1990 (Sep 11, 2004)

Go see The Ring. Share my paaaaaaaain. I'm afraid of so many things, now. Including horses. And light houses. *nod* UPDATE: Alright. I was basically told 'go make it better'. I didn't want to make it neater, because wanted the rough effect on the horse. So I attacked the background with the blur, and added water. ...done now.

Yeah, well, obviously you don't have as vivid an imagination as I do. *twitch* And apparently, in the Japanese version, one of the girl's eyes is a horse eye. Just to let you know.
Axil62 (Sep 6, 2004)
Mmmm, I like the sketchynes of this one.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 6, 2004)
Hey! I loved that evil little girl... when she's in a straight jacket in the chair and the psychiatrist says "we know you didn't mean to hurt anyone..." and she says "yes, I did, and I'm not sorry...." whoohooo love it love it, and there is an old well with a dead tree in the middle of a pasture on a highway near here, and I get scared everytime I go that way! If you haven't seen "The Butterfly Effect" yet you have GOT to see that one... the best part is where the boy goes back in time to the basement and tells his girlfriend's father off... be watching for that part it rocks... That movie is scarier even than The Ring.
Axil62 (Sep 6, 2004)
But I like the scratchyness...

Oh, that's perfectly all right, pheny. Lots of people on 2draw do that, using the color swatches.
15grifficorntears (May 10, 2004)
sexy, i want to touch his man-hair.
mooseflower (May 10, 2004)

bumpinthenight (Aug 17, 2004)
oooh... verrry shexshay... XD meow.... I like the anatomy of the arms and head, but the right (viewers left) side of the chest seems squished... I dunno... XD very kool though... XD

I'm cheating and calling this done, because I need to get it out of my studio. I'll probably go back and fix things up, though, because yes, I know it needs more detail and contrast, etc. Lazy backgrounds rule j00 all.

It looks really good so far, for suggestions on the hair, I would say use varying line widths and add a few lighter highlights in appropriate places (i.e. near the top and on the bulgy parts of the curls). I think it's going to look great whatever you do though :)
Gigandas (edited Jun 6, 2004)
Whoa, pretty awesome 0_0.Love the smoothness you got on her skin tones.Um, a lot of people seem to do this and I've noticed what the problem is after doing so many reproductions of realism, but the nose doesn't have a dark shadow that leads all the way down the side of it.In fact, towards the bottom, but just above the nostril it kinda gets lighter and the light stretches into the cheek a little bit and blends in there. This color should be just a tad lighter than the rest of the shading around the nose.Think that should help some^^.But this is very nice overall :).Looking forward to the finish.
Ty854 (Jun 20, 2004)
That hair is awesome. Very nice shading on the face also. ^^
Gigandas (Jun 22, 2004)
Hey, you fixed it :).Now that looks a lot better XD....actually I think the nose is now my favorite part about this pic.The lips are all shiny too :).Good job fixing the stuff I mentioned though, it's not easy and you got it dead on ;).

Anyway, my character Tristan (Tris) Lybra. Lounging at a bar, or something.

Yep, random kid inspired from Lord of the Flies. And yes, complete revamp of background, because the leaves were annoying me. Anyone who wants to go in and fix up the water for me, memo me. .__. Or leave a comment. But I'd love for someone to fix the water.

argh! I read that book for "o" level.. have you seen the film? great draw
emmamommalag (edited Jun 20, 2004)
I like the water, Vis. And the rest of the pic, for that matter. :) I never read the book; otherwise I mightn't have liked the movie either.
DMV (Jun 20, 2004)
This is excellent VV but I think you should of stayed with v.3 :)
fleeting_memory (Jun 21, 2004)
before I even read your thing I saw this picture and went- AHHH LORD OF THE FLIES! But that's just cause we read that book just this last year...so this is like Jack then...

Harry, from the fic Snitch! (incomplete, and by Al) that I just read the other day. Snitch! features one of the most messed up, twisted Harrys you could hope for; he's the owner of gyms, seedy clubs, and the largest pornography racket in Western Europe.

Background 'cause I've been paying too much attention to Porcelain, and stole her handy/spiffy common background. And brown hair, because as disturbing as this may seem to some of you, there is no such thing as black hair. Take some time off for dinner.

Marcello: Nope, haven't read that. I'm sure it's hilarious, but I really don't think I can stomach being able to read about anyone named 'barry'.
marcello (Nov 25, 2003)
people often call him harry by mistake in the book, it's pretty crude though
Childlike_Vampire (Nov 26, 2003)
Very spiffy, I like the background just fine. I like the shine on the hair a lot, but isn't it a bit too neat and tidy to be Harry? lol nice pic.
Ty854 (Jun 1, 2004)

Very nice VV.. the right eye looks a bit small in relation to the left but its nice.
Kasha (May 1, 2004)
oi! I cannot believe I missed this one. I was scanning through ur gallery and I saw this one and forgot to comment! (thanks by the way. I feel so accomplished when I realize I've inspired someone! )

comment: I like the smooth brush strokes you've applied to this portraiture. The skin tones are great and I love the purple highlights. The hairstyle is awesome and has that lovely 'woosh' effect that I always favor.Like Davinci said, the eye on the left looks a tad bit smaller in relation to the other. It's tedious sometimes to get the eyes working, I think everyone seems to have a hard time with that, eventually it'll kick in. The background is totally something I would do. Very painterly. Overall, fantastic job!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 1, 2004)
Very Kasha-like. :) She definitely has one of the coolest, uninhibited styles going around here. It's probably such a leap from mine I don't think I'd know where to begin. You even got close to the palette she uses. Shows you are very observant and insightful.
