so i've been on a quest lately to find photos or videos that will actually shock or creep me out..and clicking from version 2 to 3 did it. gj...most interesting thing i've seen art-wise in a while.

Teapot (edited Mar 14, 2010)
I'm glad you're trying watercolour because I think the medium would lend itself to your style. If you can find it, there is a book by a woman I think you would really like. It's called 'How to Make a Watercolor Paint Itself' by Nita Engle. Thanks for sharing your class paintings. It takes awhile to work out all the properties of the different pigments--transparent, opaque, staining, etc. Then you have to play with working wet in wet, wet on dry, dry on dry, and refine your lost and found edge technique. It's hard and frustrating but also the most fun and magical when it works, IMO.

Something like this, Teapot? :)

Mmmm! Nice interplay of the warm and cool colours together! I got the sense of a forest fire. I am liking how you keep the movement and looseness with your paints. Though I can admire the control achieved, I don't find myself liking watercolours that get too 'tight', too detailed. This painting has a nice balance of a little detail with a lot of impression.

damn...
well, it's gone, but i will comment for your other one anyway because i thought it was fantastic. I thought the comment you left on it was equally wonderful. It felt to me oddly connected to what your son is studying. like that subject pervaded your subject. It was great, I hope you saved it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he/you already know about these but;
read the book, Night by Eli Weisel? It's about the Holocaust through the eyes of a 15 year old, may be too old for your son, but read it anyway.
look at the documentary and all that it includes of "The Paper Clip Project" http://whitwellschoolmiddle.org/homepage_pc.cfm?id=78

Good job :)
lori (Mar 15, 2010)
yeah, I didn't much like that other one... thanks Suntan... I will look into that book for him, he's 14

for Him.

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now if the master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, "I'm done". But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the
servant would not dare touch the table, because.......... The folded napkin meant, "I'm coming back!"

Jesus is coming back.

Believing everything that can't be proven, and believing in God are two entirely different ideas in my heart and mind. I have a relationship with God that is unmistakably real here and now. I have daily proof in my life that He is...and always was, "I AM."
marcello (Mar 6, 2010)
hard to argue with that. ;)
Flubbles (Mar 6, 2010)
If god really does exist, then who here can conclusively give me evidence i cannot dispute? i'm not saying i dont believe in god, i've just never been given any concrete evidence of his existence.

I dont mind the dodge and burn in this pic, i think she used them well without over doing it.
elly (Feb 26, 2010)
I tend to use dodge and burn in about every draw I do somewhere or another...can we say obsession?? lol! I do overuse them and I'm trying to tone it down a bit...I'm only in my 2nd step of the 12 step program for dodge and burn addicts =) LOL! Thx for the comments =)
Zero_Lemons (Feb 26, 2010)
I just want to hold it in my hands, it's so cute! I really love the details of the feathers. I think your use of dodge and burn is effective for this as a whole :)

Very beautifully drawn, its refreshing to see such an artistic touch to such a beautiful position and woman. I admire you for doing the hair as you did, she is perfect indeed.

Thank you, Aakyra, TumblingUpwards and Suntan. I have to admit, Suntan. I only added the earring when I fixed the ear....
