Showcase entry!
Shanghai (Apr 8, 2008) — edit
So imagine it's like an adventure/rpg where the bosses are things like a giant monster crab, or, in this case, a monster turtle with only one weak point that you have to hit when it reaches a certain point of its attack pattern.

I haven't put anything in a contest for a long time, so I thought I'd do one for this week, but if sweetcell doesn't want to include it in the judging that's fine too.

This is neat. A lot of depth and good contrast range in this piece. I don't see anything wrong with you entering the contest, as long as you're not judging it.
Sweetcell (Apr 17, 2008)
Nah Shang it's cool. There were a lot of contests I wanted to enter but didn't because I was a mod, but I say, mod's paint.

I'm estimating around 35 layers total, though I always merge them all before submitting so there's only 1 in each posted version.

Congratulations Shanghai, Gigantoise, Eater of Trees is awarded 1st place in Contest Week 75: Turtles.

He has the look of an old powerful spirit god, and the textures and color you used gives it added dimension. I especially like the trees on the hills and splashes of water. This is a pleasure to look at and gives an added dimention to a simple subject like Turtles.

''See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
On his shell he holds the earth.
His thought is slow but always kind..
He holds us all within his mind.
On his back all vows are made..
He sees the truth but mayn't aid.
He loves the land and loves the sea,
And even loves a child like me.''
