Great idea for defense. It's a lot like the horned lizards (aka horny toads) in the US that squirt blood from their eyes. I can imagine this eye, apparently not meant for navigation as most other eyes are, constantly watching for danger. It's an eye without sympathy.

Congrats 2U! What a cool take on a lizard! I like your imagination =) My son really thinks I have eyes in the back of my head under my hair..LOL. I didn't tell him about my lizard tongue yet tho.....Great wrinkle effect and I love the wood grain! Nice =)
