@ lori: Nope, haven't gone to an art school. I'm kind-of self taught I guess...? I did take an art class in the eigth grade though ^^.
well everyone here taught me, that's it and that's all
ok wait, my dad did too
and Walt Disney :)
@ Miss DJ, I think I'm pretty much done though :).
@ Sketcher V: Lol, I'm really not THAT good! Takes much more skill than I possess to make a manga book-thing. Thanks for the comment - I'm glad you like the style/colours :D!
...so much interesting going on

You managed to make great use of all the tools available and create a very lovely piece. Taking full advantage of the Textual tools. It's also well composed, colored, and very pleasing to the eye. A very good example of what an artist can do with an appelet.
Thought it'd win.
Open minds to what Pam?
it seems like the judging of these contests (lately) is swayed by popularity and number of comments. kinda blows.
not trying to take anything away from this piece.
edit: congratulations on the new wardrobe :P
I was wondering about how the contest would be judged after I finished this image, and wondered how it would be judged, what with all the variables that could come into play. Was especially wondering how it could be judged what with there being two different applets with different "specialties". It seems to be more a Lascaux vs. Shi contest.
From appearances, it would seem as though the one done in Shi-painter, at first glance, may have more special effects because there are so many different textures, when in actuality, only one tool was used. All the techniques I used, in fact, were just primary concepts: point, click, drag, drop (so on and so forth).
Lascaux, on the otherhand, deals alot more with the actual manipulation of the image, which I think, is more exemplary of proper utilization of speciality tools.
Also, it's hard to gauge how well one uses these specialty tools, since there are things in Las that Shi lacks and vice versa. It's like an uneven battlefield since this contest is so dependent on the applet. There's like.. 12 layers, sharpen, smudge, custom brushes in Las, but no textures like in Shi.
Personally, I think Miss DJ should have won, as she used Lascaux's specialty tools in unique, interesting and thoughtful ways, whereas mine was just click-drag-drop for the sake of "here's a tool why don't I use it". I genuinely didn't do much different than I usually do ^^;.. and I didn't learn anything/try anything that I didn't already know.
Or it might just be that fascination with how someone else could conjure something so cool with the applet one is unfamiliar with? And because one is unfamiliar with that applet, it seems that much more amazing? Ehhgh I dunno what I'm talking about anymore. >>;
Awesome Piece Silvair! Congrats on the win.
Keep it up, You'll get far with that ^_^
Love,
Anime's Pet
