Ahh sorry! Forgot to add the description!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid-Autumn_Festival This is a depiction of the Mid-Autumn Festival/Moon Festival/Mooncake Festival/Lantern Festival that is practiced by many East Asians. People celebrate it to worship the moon and show reverence to dieties like Chang'e (whom I've drawn). Farmers also celebrate the end of the summer haversting season with this occasion. I based the picture off of a few lines in the version 4 of the stories of the Mid-Autumn Festival, found on wikipedia: "Although Houyi wanted to shoot her in order to prevent her from floating further, he could not bear to aim the arrow at her. Chang'e kept on floating until she landed on the moon. While she became lonely on the moon without her husband, she did have company. A jade rabbit, who manufactured elixirs, also lived on the moon." And I also based it off of the wikipedia images depicting the characters of Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit.

@Kaze: Yep, it's supposed to be the jade rabbit thing; I read some bits of the wikipedia article and it sounded cool, so I decided to draw this :D.

This image brings the folktale of Chang'e to life and has a very mystical quality to it. The transparent cloths are so delicate and the other-worldly glow around them definately makes her feel like a celestial being. Her expression is very serene and fitting for someone associated with the moon, and leaves us wondering what or who she's looking down at.
I'm familiar with her story and also of similar moon-related stories such as the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter from Japan about Kaguya-Hime. Did you know that China has a lunar mission named Chang'e which is scheduled to launch this month? Japan launched one named Kaguya just last month, by the way.
Forgot to mention- During Apollo 11's fight to the moon they were warned about Chang'e by NASA. Seriously. (about half way down, hit ctrl-F and search for "bunny")
