You can most likely use any colors for this, but I find b/w work the best.

I. Begin in NORMAL mode. Create a drawing in b/w or fill the whole board with black....

II. In the upper right corner, I chose DIFFERENCE mode with a white color and just 'tapped' the brush to create this effect. Use a bigger brush for larger 'crystals.'

III. The only 'difference' in the bottom corner figure from the top is the DODGE tool used here and there to highlight.

IV. Left bottom corner. Used the SQUARE brush with white and the DIFFERENCE TOOL...and the BLUR tool.
V. Upper left corner, still using the DIFFERENCE TOOL...choose the soft round brush and X the BLEND AND ALIAS boxes. This is absolutely one of my favorite effects.

oh yea, and have FUN!! LIFE IS SHORT...open your toolbox and create away!! Now I have to go back to this draw and do something else with it. Wonder what I'll do now?.....hmmmm

There...that's better.

This is cool, it actually looks like a rose made out of crystal formations. :)

Awesome. Thank you for making this tutorial. I'm going to experiment with this technique sometime.
