I didn't know these plants were underwater but it's a pretty swell painting. I bet it'll look like it's underwater once it's finished. Those plants have a monumental feel to them.

Nice perspective!
Punky (May 10, 2007)
At first, it looked like a really tall plant or a weird flying/floating plant. Lovely colours and perspective. I would so put this on my wall.

lily pads :) I love them, they bring back great memories of a pond in Maine I used to stay at when I was little. There'd be frogs sitting on lilypads everywhere. I used to try to catch them all. :) Looks great so far.

I had places like that, too...how did you hold your breath long enough to go and draw this down there~!..Great idea...as always Roy

Oh my! I'm expecting a little water pixie to pop out of nowhere here!
TripleE313 (May 15, 2007)

Ziggyhbp (May 15, 2007)

How you brought the highlight of the sun on just a few stems and made the trees blobby to show we're looking at them from underwater. Pretties.
Roytje (May 16, 2007)
Thank you, Barbara :)

This is one of my favorites of yours. Srsly.
Miss_DJ (May 30, 2007)
very effective!...the glow is perfect. I love how the light plays here, just like on water. very nice.
Roytje (Jun 1, 2007)
Thank you, ladies :)
Asriel (Jun 8, 2007)
good idea. I like how you can see the bottom of the stem from the side, but then when you look up the drawing... you are looking up out of the water... a very 3D picture...
so... what was your reference? Take your computer underwater, did you?
friend (Jun 8, 2007)
I love how at the top of the picture its so bright and at the bottom it's so dark. Great contrast!
Roytje (Jun 9, 2007)
Thank you :)
Yes, I used a reference, but I've no idea where he is...

That lighting effect you have of the sunflare behind the leafs. I envy your masterfull blending and lighting effects. So smoothe and suttle.
