forumsnewsScheduled downtime -- postponed

marcello (edited Mar 30, 2007)
Update: due to technical difficulties the maintenance did not go as planned. I have reopened the site while we investigate alternate solutions.

Sorry for the downtime!

Happy Drawing,

Marcello

2draw.net team

---

I am tentatively planning some scheduled downtime on Monday, March 26th through Wednesday the 28th (depending on how long the maintenance takes). I may leave the site running in read-only mode, but that is undecided at this point.

Just letting you know. There will be a notice/message about it when it happens, but you may not be able to load the site at some point on those days.

Thanks for your understanding!

Marcello

Seriously I'll be going through some withdrawels but I'm glad your informing us so we don't freak when it happens. *sigh* Maybe I do spend too much time here.

Oh no, this is pretty scary news. This site has quickly become my daily dosage of, well, art basically! Keeps me sain and such.
  icon

I was scared it would be longer than a couple of days! Phew.....! If anyone likes drawing in Black and white you know where you might find me...lol!
That said Marcello I think this is a wonderful site and the artwork is amazing...I just want to say thank you to you for making it work so well (and the Mods too) OK enough crawling... Ill just see whats on Daytime TV...

thanks for the heads-up, Marcello. But for goodness sake, get us back up and running as soon as you can, will you? Drawing here is my therapy!

I would just like to say thank you for the advance notice. I hate it when I can't "get here" and I don't know what's going on.

  icon

Lol DBA, I was thinking when reading your comment, its nice to get a little insight in other peoples lives, even if it is just a peek, without hopping on a plane and hiding in the bushes :D.
  icon

Oh crap without anything to do except force myself to go out and talk to my stupid friends and actually eat and breath. Stab me in the back heres a knife. *Spazzes out with a never ending rant*.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 25, 2007)
I wonder if we will be able to revise things that are currently unfinished after the site goes back up?
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 25, 2007)
Why wouldn't you be able to?
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 25, 2007)
How could I possibly know that? I don't know what he's doing to the site, do you? That was the reason for the question... I don't know.
  icon
Sweetcell (Mar 25, 2007)
He's turning it into the magical land of Narnia, so when the site comes back up all the draws we finish from here on end will come to life and we'll never have to live in the harsh cruel world of reality again......

Or he's just upkeeping it with a stronger whatchamacallit.... engine or something. I no speak net talk good. ;)
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 25, 2007)
I know, there's thingamajiggers and whatchamacallits and doodads.... and just don't eat too many geedunks before you try to work on them, or you'll get a tummy ache, magical or not.
  icon
davincipoppalag (edited Mar 25, 2007)
The geedunks were recalled...there was something in the wheat gluten that made people meow like cats. Something about manufacturing workers with dirty feet or some such issue.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 25, 2007)
What about Frostie rootbeer in a bottle, though?
  icon
Sweetcell (Mar 25, 2007)
In the and of lolipops and dreams, I saw you riding the root beer wave and land on the crystal sugar shores.............

Then we did it like sea monkeys.........

RANDOMNESS!
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 25, 2007)
I love randomness. I was random before random was cool..haha... sea monkeys... seems like when I was a kid there were these packets of instant sea monkey things... you put them in fishbowls or aquariums or something... my littlest brother could always get them to "hatch", but mine were always duds, or I loved them to death or something, I don't know.

What time are we going down on doomsday, anyway? I don't leave for the ranch till Tuesday, probably, and I am so bored I'm liable to get into a heap of trouble in the meantime without 2draw.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 25, 2007)
Well.. there's at least a 2 hour diff in time between us and him. He's gotta wake up...clear the cobwebs..and then assuming he wakes up enough to think of such things.. I figure we got till about noon our time anyway....maybe longer...with luck..:0(
  icon
marcello (Mar 26, 2007)
I'm gonna start mucking around soon, but I figure it will still be a few hours before the site goes down. Maybe I'll set up some kind of chat for people to use in the mean time.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 26, 2007)
Hope it goes well and it's back up sooner than expected...
  icon
Maiko (Mar 26, 2007)
Actually, we're s'posed to have a power outage today :D coincidence?!?! I THINK NOT.

Cello's obviously planning to take over something.
  icon
Sweetcell (Mar 26, 2007)
I think you may be right..... wasn't there talk once of Marcello's real face? Zorchello
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 26, 2007)
It's raining and I can't go outside (well, I could.... I did), but it's kind of silly to stay out in the rain all day. I'm really in the mood to revise something here, but I'm afraid if I do the site will go down right when I hit submit.... HEY MARCIE.... any estimation on what time we're going down? And on second thought, can't you just work on it while it's running? They do it at Nascar all the time.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 26, 2007)
Come on...gutz Cindy...go for it.. play with danger..
  icon
marcello (Mar 26, 2007)
I could but then drawings/comments would likely be lost. It'd be a bigger pain in the ass.

I'll block revising and starting new drawings about an hour before I start shutting down accepting submissions. So yea, if you want to draw, start now and plan to finish within a few hours.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 26, 2007)
k thanks, Your Highness. Just hurry up, wouldja, if it keeps raining all week I'm not leaving and I wanna be here. Maybe it's that thing about wanting what you can't have or something, I guess.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 26, 2007)
Paint on your walls Cindy...if he doesnt have it up by then...
  icon
Sweetcell (Mar 26, 2007)
Now we know what get's Cindy out of her art funk, the possibility of not being able to draw,. I kid you, I'm a kidder.

If it's just a matter of painting Cindy fiddle around with Pooh (ok, that sounded weird.) If you can't send well no worries, the picture will still be there. :)
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 26, 2007)
I'm not allowed to color on the walls, my husband just finished painting the entire inside of our house. I would be in a lotta, lotta big trouble. Thank you, Barb, I might do that.
  icon
marcello (Mar 26, 2007)

What is it and where is it, and is it fattening?
Somebody hurry up and answer me.... welcome to "Real Reality Not TV"... this is an episode of "The Real Housewives of Bosque County".... I've never had plastic surgery and my hair isn't loaded with flammable petrochemicals, but I have to go to the grocery store, which is half an hour away (and that's me hauling ass on a wet highway)... so I should probably leave now, before Redneck City Retail Rodeo (hah I just made that up) closes down.

  icon

dba: right click on your desktop, go to properties, click the settings tab, and set your resolution up higher.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 26, 2007)
Whoaaaa! That was scary. I did that and it made this little noise and everything got so teeny tiny I couldn't see it. Overkill? lol

  icon
marcello (Mar 26, 2007)
dba: maybe not set it that high. I would suggest 1024x768 or 1280x960 or whatever. Pick which you like best.
  icon

well that was fun.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 26, 2007)
WELL!!! I almost wrecked out trying to pass a stupid horse trailer in the rain (the guy was going so slow, he might as well have unloaded the horses and had a trail ride), and then I had to unload groceries in the rain and put them away when I got back home (I should have servants, why am I subjected to doing these boring, menial tasks, WHY?) Anyway, I get back here and there's NOBODY in the *scribble on the wall* room.

  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 28, 2007)
Is this transition making you cranky, Marcie? IS IT? You're starting to sound like an adult or something, It's depressing. I don't like grown ups.

WHEN? Are we there yet? How much longer? I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. I have to pee. He touched me!!!!! I want to paint!!!!
  icon
Kloxboy (Mar 28, 2007)
Okay Michelangelo, hurry the freck up. ;)
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 28, 2007)
Yeah... YEAH. I sure am glad this is my house, and there isn't any one to nag at me for "running in and out". I heard that all the time... "Stay in or out!!!". I'm tired of playing outside. I have been hanging over creek bridges and rolling around in the grass, I got ants in my pants and prickly pear needles in my shins taking stupid pictures.

Are we there yet?
  icon
marcello (Mar 28, 2007)
I have barely started. it's a lot more work than I expected, and I have been pretty busy with other things.
  icon
Sweetcell (Mar 28, 2007)
Cindy, you might, if the need is great, have to go to another site temporarily until he's done (gasp I know.... just thinking of painting at another art site is blasphemous) But hey you can fiddle around and do silly doodles like a lot of no0bs do here. :D
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 28, 2007)
Well, about 2 or 3 a.m. when I finish my "work" I'll need to know where to go? I'm "summerizing" my greenhouse... I'm hanging really tacky "Joe's Crab Shack" type party lights from the ceiling... so far I have dragonflies, seashells, crabs, flowers, a big frog light, a grashopper light... Then I have to sweep all the dirt out and clean the little table and chairs and put the fish fryer and the blender and stuff in there to get ready for when my brothers come to fish and visit. My husband walked out there and said... "Do you think you could turn the stereo up any louder out here?"... and I said "no party poopers allowed!", and I shooed him away. (so all the cows and the coyotes can hear Jimmy Buffet 20 miles away? so????) Now I have resorted to drinking beer and climbing on stepladders, MARCELLO... this is endangering my well-being!!!! :D *tiptoes back to greenhouse*
  icon
Kloxboy (Mar 28, 2007)
Sweetcell: I think harassing Marcello makes him work faster. I have no proof of this but who needs hard evidence, that's for credible people. :D

Until then, I found an interesting photo on MySpace, reminds me of a dream I had once, no twice, maybe a hundred times, I lost track: Before you click, note this image contains mature content...then again, this image could be your ticket to maturity :D
  icon
Miss_DJ (Mar 28, 2007)
Cindy, tell your husband he has to be WAY more cool if he's going to keep the title of being YOUR husband. jeeeeeez. Don't you hate questions that people REALLY don't want the answer to? I would have been so inclined to say, "you know, I could, and that's an excellent idea, thanks!"

Klox..must've been a messy dream...lol
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 28, 2007)
I had to come in, I plugged in all the lights and got attacked by a flock of giant moths.
I must not be mature enough to look at that, it won't display the page for me. There goes my ticket, dang.

DJ, I already told him. He's never been cool. He's always acted like a grumpy old man. lol As long as I feed him regularly and don't keep him up past his bedtime (8 or 9 pm) he's tolerable enough. He did, however build the greenhouse for me, and he took my boat to the shop today, so I better not push it too hard. I did turn the stereo up louder as he was halfway down the walk to the house, to drown out the last part of "Night, night, termite"... what he always says to me when he goes to bed. The things I put up with... GAH. :D
  icon
Sweetcell (edited Mar 28, 2007)
But, but..... where are the men? Oh right..... a GUY'S dream. Typical. ;) I'm thinkin maybe thousands Klox?

Moths..... kill them Cindy, seriouly get out your gun and shoot the mother---shut your mouth

Hey I'm on 2draw paintchat...... scratch that, doesn't seem to work for me.
  icon
Mocha_Bean (Mar 28, 2007)
I'm having trouble drawing on PaintChat..how does it work?
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 28, 2007)
Well, the link worked that time and there goes what little was left of my naivete *rme*..haHAHHHH... I am laughing so hard. That's a very "numerous" girl on girl shot there, ... what makes it funny (besides the fact that you guys can be so easy where that's concerned) is that... being no stranger to photo shoots myself (NOT THAT PARTICULAR KIND... but...) I'm hearing the conversations preceding, during, and after the shots are taken... see the girl in the far right hand lower corner?... they cropped most of her face out because I guarandamntee you when the photographer said, "Okay, great girls, we almost have it!... just .." she was saying..."what the *!#@$ do you mean "one more time?"...just her partial expression there is a dead give-away. That is toooo funny.

Sweet, I was brave, I went back out even though I'm terrified of moths (don't tell anyone),... it's also annoying that spiders are nocturnal, and they always end up in my hair. I worked so hard out there that I'm probably exhausted enough to actually go to bed like a normal person. Well, maybe...not....

edit: lol Mocha, it doesn't work for me, (really I just have no patience to learn anything at all right now) just click on something that'll make a mark and scribble, it's what I've been doing

OMG, I'm still trying to figure out who the tennis shoe belongs to? LMAO
  icon
Mocha_Bean (Mar 28, 2007)
When I go in there, it's like I'm watching an animation of numerous drawings...and yet, I can't do anything *pouts*, I'm gonna try again, lol..
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 28, 2007)
Wait!!!! after you join... you have to watch the animation of the previous artists, and then you will see something like... "painchat log successful" in red text in the chat box... I don't remember exactly, but after you see that, then you'll be able to access the tools and do something. Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking.
  icon
Mocha_Bean (Mar 28, 2007)
It's no problem, Cindy, I'm drawing at this very moment! Yay, took forever to watch everything else though, lol..
  icon

Good, I'm glad you figured it out. If it is taking an inordinate amount of time to load, Marcello will inadvertently pop in occassionally and clear the history so it starts new. Don't know about at the moment... he's busy building 2draw back up. or HE BETTER BE!!! :)

  icon
Kloxboy (Mar 29, 2007)
Well, this is the answer Dave....

About 3 years ago, in sunny Florida, there lived a young 15 year-old girl named Drig. She loved to draw anime on the computer, I mean, she -really- loved it, she drew anime from sun up, till sun down. Drawing wasn't merely a hobby for her, it was her life. Little did Drig know, it would one day seal her demise. One cold and stormy night in late March, Drig's parents left her in the house, they had a dinner party to attend and felt Drig was now old enough to stay at home alone. Finally alone, Drig nestled into her favorite chair, preparing to do her favorite thing in the whole world, draw anime online. She drew for 5 hours straight without a break, she was in the zone. As she was completing her 20th drawing of the night, she heard a loud thump coming from above. It was rather windy that night, which lead Drig to believe the noise was just from the wind blowing pine cones onto the roof. Drig proceeded to start her 21st drawing of the night, trying to keep her pace consistent, as she was having a very productive drawing night. But then, without warning, she heard a series of very loud thumps and a booming crack. She jerked her head up and within that instant, a giant pine tree burst through the roof of her house. In a matter of seconds, the tree collapsed though the house and with one big horrifying-blow, the tree crushed and flattened Drig to the ground. The impact was so great, Drig was smashed into her computer, all that was left of her remains were beaten pieces of flesh, mashed into the circuitry and plastic of her computer. It was a sad night indeed, a tragedy so great, it would give birth to the restless soul of The Great Drig-timber Ghost!!!

I'm surprised Dave, you don't know the legend I'm guessing. Ain't you ever heard of internet ghosts, Dave? They can do whatever the hell they want, only catch is, their afterlife existence is restricted to the internet until their restless souls are at peace. A damaged soul can take a couple millenniums to heal, other times just a couple days. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 29, 2007)
Well..gee..I'm glad you cleared that all up...
  icon
Kloxboy (edited Mar 30, 2007)
For sure Dave, it's scary but true.

Oh yeah, and for those of you who are making new, additional accounts, that will not give you drawing access. You're wasting time and space....lol.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 30, 2007)
I was afraid it would be a ghost...but at least it draws showcase material..eh?
  icon

  icon
Sweetcell (Mar 30, 2007)
Ok Klox.... scared, pull covers over head Is she gone yet?

Seriously though, people who can find cracks in systems shouls be smacked around, because it makes us all the more frustrated we can't.

If I say Drig 3 times in front of my monitor what happens?
  icon
Kloxboy (Mar 30, 2007)
Heh, no one found any cracks, it didn't happen via Drigs effort.
  icon
marcello (Mar 30, 2007)
ok, there are some serious problems with the move, so I will unlock the site for now. we are unfortunately back and square one and will likely have to do this again at some point in the future.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Mar 30, 2007)
OH Noes...at least we can draw for awhile and get a fix!!!
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Mar 30, 2007)
Marcello: just chew some cyberbubble gum and plug up the hole. (hah... say that ten times really fast... cyberbubblegum... or just two times, it's funny) Oh thank you, God, and thank you King Cello. I'm sorry it didn't work, but I'm glad we're back. If I had to do one more physically taxing thing I'd just fall into a little heap. This place is the only reason I ever sat down for more than a few minutes to begin with. (and this place doesn't even keep me stuck to my seat for long). I have cleaned out my greenhouse, my closets, tested the hydroplaning action of the new tires on my truck in flooding conditions at 90 mph while I was storm chasing this afternoon (a girl's gotta have some fun...) and the CATFISH ARE BITING!!!!.... being in a metal duck boat in the middle of the lake in the middle of an electrical storm is a rush!!!!! Wooooohooooo!!!!!! The downside is that I just ate so much catfish I think I might pop, now. Maybe I'll be able to sit here and try to paint something and rest before I have to go outside in the middle of the night to dig up nightcrawlers out of my garden for fishing the rest of the weekend... and my little brother is coming to fish with me! I feel HAPPY! :D

Left over fish is yucky. I'm not saving this. Does anyone want it? If it doesn't get eaten, I'll have to bait the stray cats with it, and cap their mangey asses while I dig for nightcrawlers tonight. Anyone know why the girls at the country club don't like me? :D
  icon

haHAH... Well, let's see... if Botox injections, breast implants, liposuction, a weekly pedicure,... on and on... if those count, I'm no competition. They have all the "pretty" money can buy. I'm "NO MAINTENANCE" where that's concerned. Let's don't even talk about my NAILS... (I don't have any?... I worked them down to nothing :) Nope, they don't like me because I tell it like it is, not how they want to hear it. I never belonged to the country club... I visited, I was FORCED to go there on many occasions, and I couldn't wait to get out. lol

Wait, Derrick! We can make fish taCOs!!! I saw them on a menu once... not sure what was in them... but it sounds pretty self explanatory.

Sure, Barb... most people root for the cats. Wouldn't put down a lot of money on them if you're gonna bet, though, they always lose. :)

no please no say no to fish tacos. Unless you're going to feed them to a cat. Speaking of cats...Fk the ladies at the cunt-try club...(did I say that out loud?)...who needs 'em? Everybody has to shit, and there's is stinky too. ok...that's gross...I'm gonna go draw now.

haHAH... hey, Donna... I think it's safe to say... You've also ridden on the back of a Harley and you weren't the slightest bit worried about your hair being messed up? ;)

edit: oh, and yeah, there's is like WAY stinkier... I'm not sure what kind of gas things like alfalfa sprouts and soybean substitutes cause, but it's like... BAD. They pay this little woman to stand in the bathroom under the "guise" of "gum and perfume"... but she's really there to spray Atom Bomb size clouds of air freshener after these "pretty girls" HAH

fish tacos are actually pretty good

Yeah? I always wondered. I love tacos, and I love fish, and it kinda makes sense, because you fry fish in corn meal, and most taco shells are made of corn meal... but I just never would have put the two together myself. I saw it on a menu at a local Mexican food restaurant in Waco. My daughter always makes fun of them. What's on them besides fish?

you people do realize fish taco is slang for something right?
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 30, 2007)
aaaaaaaa....ummmm.... is that why my daughter covers her face with the menu, and then says "Mom, you'll have the fish tacos, right?" in front of the waiter as she stifles her giggles? IS IT? lol

fish burritos are good too

DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 30, 2007)
hmmm... fish burritos... never heard of that? That must be something Tex-Mex that originated on the border of Texas and New Mexico. Know what, Marcello, you and I should get together and cook something. :D (make sure there's plenty of fresh avocados).

This is obviously another setup for April Fool's.

You think? I would like to think not. That little April fool's day stunt that year cost me a book deal with the president of the UNITED STATES, no less...but hey, I'm not holding any grudges...there's no way he could have knwn he was destroying my life irreperably on that day. It's oaky, I'm able to rebuild. I'm just a little frightened of A.....a....pril.....now?

DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 31, 2007)
the year you brought the site down on april 1st, there was a childrens book publisher coming here to look at my work, i was possibly going to illustrate one of the books written by a former president... but when she got here, there was nothing to look at. s'okay, fine, no problem, like i said, i have healed nicely :)
