I just hate that no matter how good a person is at one form of art even though they may practice and practice, they just can't do one other style. Like me for instance, the things I know I am good at drawing would have to be anime or manga (whatever your preference for it is) realism, charicturist, realistic fantasy (like dragons my preference are eastern styled dragons like long river or sky spirits) and that art where all you do is dot a piece of paper like a million times until you get your drawing but I just can't seem to draw american styled cartoons like if I see them I draw them but as I get finished I put too many details into it and it won't look right, it will look better than the original but not the original. Does anyone else hate when things like that happen.

No I can't say I do. I've learned lately to keep my opinions to myself though. It just kind of seems like you are trying to show off how great you -think- you are in a not-so-subtle way. No offense, of course. I'm not that great at opinion keeping.. Or drawing for that matter.

Sometimes when you are trying to learn a new style, you have to throw away most of the things you've learned. For example the proportions, cell shading, set of colors, or whatever you are used to...
So it's no wonder that you have a hard time learning it, because it's so different from what you've done before.
The only thing you can do is keep practicing. Also keep practicing the styles you think you are already good at to discover all possible facettes of them.
It's a lot of work if you really want to handle a lot of skills/styles.

Claiming that you drew something you didn't doesn't help, does it?

Actually, part of being really good at art is you can expand into other forms of art easily and willingly. If you cannot, than perhaps you are not as good of an artist as you think.

I don't know that I can relate, because I find myself generally capable of most art forms that I attempt. I'm weaker at painting than at inkwork, but that's simply being unaccustomed to a medium. But I can do cartoons, I can do anime if I'm pressured into it, I can do realism, I can do semi-realism, I don't have any issues with perspective, etc.

However, I do have two artist friends who are both excellent in what they do, but can't do other things - one girl is an absolutely amazing realist who can do things with pastels that I've never seen before, but for the life of her she can't draw anything cartoony. On the other end, the other girl is fantastic at cartoons in any way shape or form, but her realism skills definitely pale in comparison.

Anyway. :]

Your question isn't a question at all. If you want to tell everyone that you think you are good at Anime or Manga, just say so. Better yet, be good at it and show them. I looked through your gallery and you are not good at it yet. I don't know how old you are so I don't know how to gauge your level of raw talent, but based on your draws, comments and this post, I'd say you are probably fairly young and draw fairly well for your age.

Well my friend I actually don't hate when those king of things happend to me when redrawing a picture of someone like a cartoon character......:*
For the reason is that every one has their own drawing style, eighter it could be a style copied from an other artis but you are already used to and good at it that you then throw away creating your own style, or you come out with your own drawing style from a beggining, like Pablo Picaso.............
I for once I do adore drawing the style I have been doing from all this years and trusth me I have coming across on trying to draw more different from all of my anime artist friends from here........:D I love anime drawing, but I want to draw it in a different style than the usuall and commond ones, I love realisim but is a style I'm not interested on doing it for my self, is just not me, I love cartoons as well anime/manga........:D
Thats why I'm trying to make a style that is based on a convination of anime/american cartoons with modern and old style drawings....:D
I don't care if I don't have the same skills techniques"style" like other people does, I just care making my own style more better each day....So my friend what I'm trying to say is that you should worry only on your own style, not other people style, stay focus on the one you do best and why not to tweek it alittle and give it some different traces to make it your own............
Hope this helps on something my friend................:D

Yea, this is off topic, but I nearly died laughing when I saw Axils comment and Jim Cricket as his set icon.

But Axil does hold a point. Before you start bragging about how 'awesome' or 'leet' you are at drawing anime/manga you should seriously study the subject at hand and dive into it. Master it. Feel it. Fuck with it. All this will pay off in due time.

Or you can be a prodigy and just draw the Mona Lisa in 5 minutes.

Sure, it could be frustrating at first...but it's only natural since I'm not accustomed to other styles. But hate it? No, I don't feel hate.

well I never meant to say most of the things you interpreted in that way in fact my drawing style is too sketchy and I'd say I do pretty well on her for a laptop and also I dont think that all american cartoons are a peice of crap, a lot of them are very well drawn and colored. I enjoy my style and I work on it but at times I see other work that is so good I try to develop another section on focusing on that so I can make a comparison.

P.S. if Ive no longer contiued to make sense, well thats my problem not yours and also I'm gonna draw something and sign it then take a picture of it post it on the internet and show you all that I dont suck all right?

Or you could just print someone else's drawing and write your name on it, then take a picture of that. but the first idea is cool too.

You know I take offence to that and I am ashamed of what I did but really I curse a lot and so far I havent called anyone anything, I dont want to start now. And also it will be pencil or pen

Why is this so unfair? Truly masterful artist can do whatever popular style they please. You won't see it because part of being an artist means being creative, copying developed styles is anything but creative.

Perhaps your down fall could be that you seem to hold your own work so high.

I smell me a baby Xod.

Wait, Xod eats babies, so isn't that a paradox?
