Why is the image offensive? I don't see anything wrong with it. I do think it's lame and distasteful when people mockingly mix in Ebonics and black dialect in their comments or any form of speaking for that matter (the key word being mockingly). Mocking Ebonics or any one's dialect is a subtle form of discrimination and/or racism. I imagine some of you will find that is an outlandish observation and completely invalid, to you I say, you're part of the problem.
the more "apish" a person was (thick skull, large jaw, long arms, darker skin) the more likely he or she was to be a criminal.
Taken from an article regarding racism, it was the belief of a criminal anthropologist.
I think If it was just the limbs that were exaggerated it wouldn't have such an impact, but the prominent jaw gives the wrong impression.
It's probably innocent but it still brings it to your attention. I wasn't going to say anything till sugarskull mentioned it being offensive
No offense intended Sugarskull..I was just commenting on the size of the ball..bad judgement..I apologize..deleted. Fin I also apologize that my insensitive attempt at being funny brought this down on your entry.
