Contest Week 20: New X-Men

Your goal this week is to draw an original Marvel X-Men character. You can draw whatever type of character you want, I only ask that you put the X-Men "X" symbol on them to indicate they're an X-Men member. You can put the X anywhere on the character, it can be on their clothing (if they have any), on their skin, their eye, their foot, anywhere, as long as it is visible somewhere on your character. You may also draw your character in any style you want, be it comic style, realistic, impressionist, abstract, expressionistic, etc. Remember, you're creating an original, new X-Men character, not one that already exists. This is a great opportunity for you to be creative.

If you're not familiar with the X-Men or want to read up on the current X-Men characters and history, check out this Wikipedia X-men Page.

As always, do not copy other artists work!

Things to consider adding to your X-Men character submission (BUT NOT REQUIRED):
- A list of powers
- A brief bio

JUDGING CRITERIA:
Creativity: The amount of imagination, originality and expressiveness that was put into the entry.
Technique & Effort: The amount of style, skill and craft that was put into the entry.
Following the Theme: How well the entry followed the theme of the contest.

Hey can you copy the style of the Marvel comics but not the characters?

Duh.... Use the same comic book-ish style that they use smart one.

Pakasutemanshikuka: Yes, you may use an existing comic style, be it Marvel, D.C., Image, Dark Horse, Zap Comics or a specific comic artist, what have you, but you may not copy the characters.

Hey Clox or Zack, did you ever think about a "popular vote", maybe you can solve the judging issue with no pain that way...don´t know just an idea :)

what judging issue? I think judges are better than popular vote. just because a lot of people don't have a critical/artistic eye.

Oh yeah, side note, how is it they picked Topher Grace to play Venom in Spiderman 3? I'm sure he'll do a great job but seems like a strange choice. How does one go from 'That 70's Show' to Spiderman 3? Then again, most people thought Tobey Maguire was a strange choice for Spiderman and he's doing a great job.

Also, Zack gave Kayos 'first place' last time, not me. If Kayos wins the next 10 contests in a row, it's only because he made the best entries according to our criteria.

i think topher will rock it out..he's a great actor. just hasnt spread his wings mainstream-wise yet. maybe because of his look? anyway..i cant imagine them screwing up the enormous success of these films, toys, burger king commercials lol..etc. with a crappy venom. woohoo i can't wait. =D

But X-men really has a ton of characters, i just hope people dig some and don´t draw only the ultra-pop ones.

yes I didn´t, my fault.

I just wanted to say how much I dig this contest thing. Even though I haven't actually entered before, it has still inspired me to start several drawings, and I really like seeing the varied takes on each concept. This particular theme was also an especially cool concept to me, and I made myself finish even if it isn't as easy for me to find the patience for oekaki these days. Thanks for that!

This was a fun contest. I was told this contest was too geared towards boys and wouldn't you know it, 2 of the top entries came from girls. :)

Topher GRace is tiny and the guy that wears venom Brock something or other is a monster man. He is huge. How can they put that symbiote bile on such a skinny weiner.
