Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I have been using Lascuax for all my draws and it has worked great, not a glitch or stutter!
Then i do this really kick ass draw, yes I know, the fish that got away, but it WAS fantastic, took an hour, and the whole program froze. Dead. Had to crtl alt del to get out of it.

Why wasn't I warned? ?? *L*

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....so THAT'S What those saftey saves are I have run across in comments here and there. I was tring not to do too many revisions. Not any more..Safety save here I come! Sigh. I loved that draw. Showed it to my hubby, he loved that draw..ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*********It just did it again!!!! I am doing a drawing style with lots of little lines and was drawing pretty fast, is it possible I "outdrew" what my graphics card or the program or something could handle? I never had a prob til I started drawing those lil lines. Help, somebody? Ideas?***********

I'm so sorry Gerber, it hasn't happened to me even though I sometimes spend hours on end on a piece. Funny I've had no probs with the new Lascaux but everyone said they've had a bug or two, maybe eventually I will.

Use Oekaki for now, you can do some fine stuff there as well, with as many layers, and it has a texture tool. But yes, safety saves may be the best thing. Someone else may have a better suggestion. Don't fret pet, try Shi. *smoochies*

Shi crashes too. At least with Lascaux you don't have to worry about corrupted animation files.

Sometimes, when you have to quit the applet for whatever reason, you can restore the temporary image you were working on by starting a new drawing with the exact same dimensions. If you were revising an existing image when you had to quit, you can try revising the image again instead of making a new drawing with the exact same dimensions. Often the applet will ask you if you want to restore the temporary applet image when you try drawing again after a forced quit.

Well thanks ya'll. I might see the problem and am depressed. I tried again, 3rd time, 400x350 canvas in Lascaux...and tried a saftey save after 10 mins of drawing. It saved it but when i tried to revise I discovered it was already over 750 limit and i had jes started drawing it!! I am going to try on advanced with a smaller canvas and see. Lascaux still works for me Sweets, just not this technique apparently.

Wait, I think I might know what it is. Didn't you say in another thread that you set your undo threshold to some huge number like 2,500 MB? Well, if you don't actually have 2,500 MB of RAM to use that might cause problems. Especially when you draw with a lot of little lines -- that's a lot of undo tasks to record. So try setting your undo threshold for something more reasonable, like 2MB.

Oh! Ok...sounds plausible to me. Will try that. I redid it a 4th time on the advanced board and it worked, but was only 758kb so now I have no clue why the first efforts were so large. I did make the canvas a lil smaller. Thanks Zack, I will adjust my undo becuz this apple is nowhere as good as the first one!! It is very disappointing to lose a good draw.

Just fyi, the memory setting for undo's in Lascaux probably shouldn't be set too high in the applet options, 100mb or so is probably the most you might want it. It also has nothing to do with the actual size of the image, the things that effects that the most is probably the size of the canvas.
