wonderful work. you captured their expressions nicely.
one thing that bothers me though, is that while most everything is very detailed and sharp looking, the navy man's jacket (with the exception of those beautiful buttons) looks less finished than the rest of the piece.
good work on the whole.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 14, 2006)
It's Marines and Air Force, so I'm not sure which one you mean. I'm assuming it's the black (Marine) jacket... it showed no variance in color or highlights in the ref photo, so that's the way I did it. (and thanks)
hideyourface (Jan 14, 2006)
I think the hats are the most realistic looking and best part of the picture. What might seem unfinished about the black jacket is that those red lines look a bit wobbly and not real. They just kinda stand out in an awkward way.

ha. yea marines. well either way, awesome work :)
fleeting_memory (Jan 14, 2006)
Marines! Marines! Well airforce rocks too but all my friends went into the marines. God bless them.
davincipoppalag (Jan 14, 2006)
This is really a good one Cindy. It's especially meaningful because my dad was in the Marines for 6 years and then 17 more in the Air Force. Love this.

Thank you... my littlest brother was a sgt. in the Marine Corps for 8 years and had a gulf war related cancer, but he says he'd go back and do it all over again, anyway. We have soldiers like him to thank for the wonderful country we live in.

Yipi =)
I'm in the air force.

Thank your brother for his service to our country and thank you for this very nice piece.

Beautiful... very crisp painting. I agree with one of the previous comments about the hats. Particularly the one on the right. It's very realistic. Nice job Miss DBA.

Wow....just wow....no, not just wow! I love the medals, specially the one on the hat! The fabric on the right makes me want to touch it! I love their expression and the faces themselves. Great job!
