Forgive me if this is missplaced, i'm kind of a newbie to the whole scene.
The Discriptions of the sections are rather vague. i see some in the begginer, that looks intermediate, an some in the intermediate that kinda.. well looks like it needs to be placed elsewhere. is there anything besides the time limits, and the vague discriptions that define these/the sections? or is it all run on somewhat of an honor system? |

Well let me start you off by saying, most users could care less whether their drawing is crap or not, they'll post it in the intermediate board anyway. This is why their submissions get deleted. As for the beggener board, almost anything goes as far as how good you are. You can post an advanced drawing in the beggener board and it's no problem. The only thing you don't want to do is post something that's not good enough in the intermediate/advanced board. Okie dokie?

id like to say it has nothing to do with the honor system, but there is a small bit of it, i guess. if people cant respect your art in beginner, they arent going to want it in intermediate or advanced. but as far as what you are wanting to know i think seph hit it dead on.

I'd have to say, canvas space matters too, I mean you can draw an advanced picture, but if you only need a tiny canvas, you should just do it on the beginner board *shrug*

Yep, that's true also. I notice alot of good artists doing that every now and then...

Sometimes you posting something really good on beginner board is a good idea. I mean, if you are not sure where you should place your drawing, post it there, some people may say it should be in intermediate, if it truly does hold that type of quality. Or on your post you could say you were not sure where to post your art, and someone may clarify that for you. Next, intermediate picture require some things, as well as advanced. If you understand all the tools, and have a good feel for them, that's a plus to advance. If you understand anatomy, shading, ect. that's a plus to advance. Of course some people may draw something that is warped so anatomy isn't everything, but a basic understanding. Posting pictures and asking for critiques and such can help you as a better drawer. You ask, people may listen. It also depends on if you are really trying or not. If it looks like you put a whole 5 minutes in the drawing, and think its great, but an unskilled, untalented, child could do better, well, you may not get the most respect back. Basically, practice, try, and ask. That's the best thing you can do.
I think that just about clears it up. If there is anything that you think is wrong, please correct me. thanks. Hope that helps! |

I use the beginner board all the time, Not that i'm entirely beginner level but, i use it becuase i'm rarely sure of what i'm gonna draw when i start and most of the time i just like to practice my technics. I think its best to have a plan before you start drawiling on other boards. I mean know what your gonna draw and really take the time to prepare yourself for them long timelimits on them boards and i say if you know yourstuff and worked your ass off on a picture it belongs where its posted.

i just never made my canvas over 500x500 that way if its too sucky to be on advanced, then i always have the option of intermediate ;)

Just think about what you're going to try to draw.
If it looks (in your mind) like an intermediate drawing, start it there. If it looks intermediate the way you plan it, but you don't know if you can do it, go with beginner, unless you're going to use a big canvas to try. Then you have no choice. Just don't post it if it turns out horribly crummy. Basically, plan which board to draw it on. Don't use the advance board unless someone suggests that you move up to there. And don't use Elite Bastards unless you know you're awesome, like Zep, or Icats, DBA, CrimsonKing...the other great artists. --Asriel |

Since beginner board is not max 400x400, I think a lot of people will be using that
instead of intermediate, since the original 300x300 was a bit small, and plenty of people wanted a bigger canvas. |

Canvas size is all that matters.
