so if you aren't gonna like the b/g, change it to where you like it. The creature is coming out really well, I love the blue lights and the highlights on him.

Looks awsome. For the BG it might look good if you made it kinda like a nest with either a honey comb or web like structure...Maybe both. Then add some faint lights or machine things. I'm sure you've got it under control. Keep up the good work.
