No? I think I already did. *points up* There's a great difference in a blended or smudged look than in blurry. Wait, did you tell me I can't say something? THERE'S NOTHING BLURRY IN THIS PICTURE.
yeah i can tell there is no blur in this picture. its just watercolor (i think) on a lower opacity and airbrush is what it looks like, giving the appearance of blur. but there is none.
To me it appears more as a deliberate, incomplete blending or a smudge rather than a blur, but hey, I obviously have always had a different opinion than most on what constitutes blurry and what doesn't.
I think some people are saying the picture isn't blurry, and other people are saying the blur tool was used, and each other is arguing two different points. Marcello is exactly correct about the fact that the blur tool was used and where the tool was used. But I don't think this is a blurry picture.
quite. nothing wrong with blur, but 99% of the time it's used wrong. not to mention lascaux's blur tool is total crap (just uses a fixed blur matrix rather than variable gaussian based on opacity/flow).
however, if I wanted to critique this, taking the initial 'blur' comment into account, I'd say I want some more detail/form in the head/arms. not much, but a little more.
I don't think the blur tool is a bad thing. I can't help it if I have a complex now from everybody jumping my ass for painting blurry. (and I didn't even USE the blur tool) :) I still think it looks smudgey and deliberate and I like it like that.
I didn't say anything about a blur tool being used, I'm simply stating that I see blur, and it doesn't look great to me. I don't know what tool made it and I quite frankly don't care about the opacity or anything of the sort. Looking at the picture as a whole, the blurry areas stand out too much and to me, it disturbs the flow of the picture. I still like it a lot though, and nothing is ever perfect (I sound like a professional douche by now) but I think that's what makes all art great. <3 axil :P
