Awesome contour sketch. I tried that once in my sketch pad. . . it turned out horribly.

Nice cup, very bold. Yes, I remember that technique. From middle school up, art teachers pushed that technique on us to help us learn. I don't think this is a contour sketch though, it's just a blind outline. Blind contour drawings are done with a smaller brush and have more "contours" drawn in them, hence the name.

Contour drawing is actually pretty useful for drawing the human figure. I used to have some dandies but I tossed them. So, some advice to others, don't trash your old work, it could be useful in the future.

I would get scribbly lines all over the place with no shape of any kind if I tried that. This leads to the obvious...we should have a contest one week where everyone does "blind" self-portraits and see what comes up..
