I know many people have posted about this, but notice that people are hardly drawing anime anymore, I'm not being sarcastic or anything, but I was just wondering why people don't like it as much as they used to...
moderaters feel free to delete this thread if if sounds ridiculus or whatever, I'm just curious, it doesn't bother me....

Anime is a trend, it'll fade and flourish.

Kloxboy (Jul 7, 2005)
I've seen plenty of anime on this site of late, I think you should check your stats Sephiroth.

Anime in general is a major part of Japanese, Chinese and pretty much all of Asian culture, anime will not fade any time soon. American and Asian cultures will continue influence each other, particularly in art. The art world is booming with Asian artists and their styles are heavy influenced by anime and this trend is only in it's infancy.

I just don't see many good ones lately but there's still lots of anime here.
  icon
sephiroth54321 (Jul 7, 2005)

Cordelia_Pink (Jul 7, 2005)
C'mon, anime never dies.

Xodiak (Jul 7, 2005)
Many 80's cartoons inspired new series of cartoons that are still in production.
Disney still makes cartoons, I am not sure if they still use the traditional animal characters, but it is a company that will not end in the near future.
Felix is probably the longest lived cartoon character, I have seen at least 4 different series of the same cartoon in different time periods. Felix made a debut in 1919.
I am uncertain that Japanese animation will end anytime this century, unless a large scale war, destruction of nature or an unforseen astronomical event wipes human civilization first. >;D

Yeaaah. Anime is just a trend; it comes and goes. It's probably lingering here and there.

I still enjoy anime. I'm still loving the style and the culture! There are still a few anime groupies here and there, that I know of. =D I'll draw more Anime when I have the time!

\(*D*)/ ANIME GROUPIE POWAH!
hahahaa~ I like drawing anime :3 it's always very fun, and you get to really experiment with lineart and colouring.
I draw realism too, but only on paper >_> I find I have a lot more patience when I'm drawing on paper, and don't usually
draw anime. ....animals are fun to draw :o

The end of anime? I'm sorry but.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!! That's gotta be the lamest thing ever! Tons of people here draw anime! Besides, I know millions of people who are begging to differ.

sephiroth54321 (Jul 7, 2005)

hideyourface (Jul 15, 2005)
anime is just japanese cartoons. Unless you think cartoons all together are going to fade away, then Im pretty sure anime will stay.

I see lots of anime in the beginner board..

MoonlitShadow (Jul 15, 2005)
Anime will never die! =O
I will keep it alive. =x
  icon
Cordelia_Pink (Jul 15, 2005)
Those drawings in the Beginner boards... You people call that ANIME? Are you kidding me?! That's NOT anime. Those are anime-ISH fanart drawings. Get it right. lol

sephiroth54321 (Jul 15, 2005)

Sutafani (Jul 18, 2005)
hmm... I'm not saying my art is or isn't anime (whatever catigory you want to put it in), but does it matter if more people are converting to realism? I mean, I see it as a good thing.... I'm trying to turn more towards realism..
  icon
Animegirl250 (Jul 18, 2005)
But if everyone turns to realism....then....*_*....NO! I cant think about it. Not that i cant draw realism but i find drawing anime more fun and creative. but thats just me. (^_^)v

Hm.. You're right Mai. I've noticed a lack of anime here. Hmm.. It's not a trend at all, it's a style of art that originated in Japan. Anime is short for Japanese Animation. Here in America it may be a "fad" or "trend", but in Japan it's pretty much normal to them.

Man, I wish I could draw more anime, it's pretty much the only thing I draw. But with my wrist still fucked up it's getting hard. The brace is annoying as all hell.
  icon
Truearashi (Jul 25, 2005)
m, maybe people don't draw it as much, or maybe you just don't see it... either way; I find it hard to believe that it'll ever go away *shrug*
anyway! *fan girl voice* anime so kicks ass ^_^

solve (Jul 25, 2005)
animes main appeal (to me at least) is its ability to appeal to many groups. all genres and for all ages.
not only does in contain all of these but its use of expression has been exploited to perfection. for instance america as of late has been housed on special effects and the same scare tactics of horror to the dull formulas for comedies, dramas, "psychological" thrillers, etc etc.

YET ALL OF THESE LACK SUBSTANCE. (the majority of these, sometimes a gem appears)

rarely does a movie come out, that has any bit of character devolpment, movement, a plot that goes beyond youre bad im good we fight or people meet things go good but dilemma occurs and a final resolution at the end. granted not all anime is some deep story with brilliant "everything". yet, i come across a lot more anime with philosophy, psychology, character devolp, symbolism etc. etc. than american cinemas and its horrid remakes with superhero movies.

all in all im saying is, anime is this constant evolving organism, it grows with the people who create. it has actual diversity and new ideas. not dead methods atop recycled concepts. if american cinema was an organism, 90% of it wouldve died a long time ago.

just so you know I wasn't reffering to anime in general going away, I was talking about on this site. But there is more anime now then when I posted this, it must've been one of those slow times for anime.....

Kraisa (Jul 25, 2005)
Anime is a style that one will be able to grasp much better if one learns realism first.
  icon
solve (Jul 25, 2005)
^yes.
  icon
darkshadow (Jul 26, 2005)
Very true Kraisa. Once the new fall line up of anime goes out this fall you will see a ton of stuff drawn again. Think of the people who will start drawing Naruto once cartoon network airs it. All so how about Dagonball Z, you still get stuff from it posted 2 or 3 times a week.
  icon
Xodiak (Jul 26, 2005)
I remember Marcello used to say what Miss Kraisa says too. I think realism helps with everything to be honest. <:)

TaCO (edited Oct 7, 2005)
I like anime for It's story not how it's drawn.
I think solve hit the nail on the head.

And I don't think people should limit themselves to one style.
Draw realism, cartoons, anime, stick people.
Draw the best you can and draw crap without thinking just let it flow.
If you limit yourself to one style, you are missing out on alot.
