I can't believe no one's commented on this. I didn't earlier because I wasn't familiar with him or his music, but now I feel compelled. I like the dynamic lines and lettering, which are nice and clear in v1. The shading in v3 doesn't seem to have a particular light source and is confusing, especially with the overpowering background. I'm a fan of v1 though.
For the sake of information, the guy is Layne Staley (who unfortunately died in 2002, age 34, of a speedball(heroine+cocaine) overdose) of the grunge band Alice in Chains. The song is a demo that can't be found on an album, but still is a good song. I personally think he's one of rocks greatest singers of all time; many critics would agree with me. He and Jerry Cantrell's 4th interval harmonies were their signature. =)
